Recently, after a night in the garage, my panda decided not to engage first gear. The gearbox oil was old but not leaking, all other gears work fine and after a week of struggling with second gear hill starts (no doubt ruining the clutch,) it hadn't loosened up or sorted itself up. The linkage is fine and reverse still works perfectly. There are no unusual noises it simply will not change into first gear.

I suspect the maybe a catastrophic synchro problem but if anyone could share any knowledge of this sort of thing it would be hugely appreciated.

(Also, if this is the end of the gearbox, if anyone could point me in the direction of a new 4/5 speed box that'd be amazing!)

Thanks in advance,

nick

It was perfect beforehand and every other gear engages without fuss. There's no jumping out of gear or grinding, it just will not engage first.
