Re: Help - which panda?

It doesn't look too bad, but with the state of that arch I imagine the rear of the sills (a very common place) and the front of the arch under the plastic trim will be rotten, so make sure you have a proper look at those.

Check the rear crossmember under the bumper, the boot floor and the seams on either side of it. Also check the bottoms of the inner wings in the front wheelarch at the front by the suspension tie bar as these very often go also.

On the mechanical side check the 4WD works and the gearbox is ok, engines are pretty bulletproof but check for signs of headgasket failure.

Re: Help - which panda?

Cheers for the info guys.
I think I might give this a skip as they are asking for 1k and I reckon it isn't worth the 100 mile journey to collect. Taking on board previous advice I think I'm going to hold out for a mint condition 2wd, lower insurance group, easier to replace parts, cheaper to run and I believe the tax is due to go up on all 4x4s so landrover owners don't feel discriminated against.
Will keep you posted, if anyone has a 2WD to sell feel free to get in touch. ideally in good condition and near to London (within 100 miles)

Thanks again.

Re: Help - which panda?

1k is a bit steep

Road tax on modern cars is done by emissions not number of driving wheels, so Pandas new or old won't be affected

Re: Help - which panda?

1k is far too much imo, you are definately better off waiting for a really good one to come along, I bet that one will end up costing alot once you start.

Keep watching, a good one will come up. The longer you wait, the more you will have to compare

Re: Help - which panda?

Going to take a look at a '93 Panda Parade on thurs. Very excited, it has rust on the doors but the whole under side is coated with waxoil and rust free. 104k on the clock, but atleast I know that is an honest figure.
500, not a bad price with a 12 month mot. It has that double sun roof I really want.
Does anyone know how much the interior might cost to change? I'm not so keen on the fabric although it is in good nick. Will prob just pin something over what is on there already, but if it isn't to much to get professional job would be intersted.

Re: Help - which panda?

The Parade is probably a much nicer to look at version of my colour, i.e injection but doesnt look like a rainbow! I have rust on the bottom inside of my doors, not exterior! That does look real nice

Have a GOOD look around, but.. that looks in much better condition than the Colour i've just bought.

DO have a massive look around the car if you havent already, old cars hide old problems

Re: Help - which panda?

Looks good for that price, although hard to tell from the photos really. Make sure you check underneath still though, just because its been waxoyled doesnt mean there isn't any rust.

and tbh I like the interior. I wouldn't molest with it as it'll decrease the resale value and it's origionality. By all means put seat covers on it if that's what you'd prefer though

Re: Help - which panda?

500 for a twin sunnies Panda with full MOT sounds like a bargain to me.

There are a lot of higher mileage Pandas around so don't let that put you off too much...these Classic Pandas are not getting any younger!!!

As for the interior, I agree with MEP - interiors do come up, so you could always swap it for another and store the original for re-sale.

Let us know how you get on
