Sorry about the thread title, but you know you'd have called it something similar. :p

Thought you might like to see my latest Panda accessory, bought from some lovely people through the classifieds on here..............

It's called an awning rather than a tent, floor area is about 6'x7', just enough for a blow up double mattress.
It comes with curtains for the car windows giving you total privacy.
Quality is very good, I think it was made in Germany, but is designed specifically for the Fiat Panda.
It has an elasticated section which fits snugly round the tailgate seal, but as you can see from the pics, you can drive off and leave it as a stand alone tent.
I have the Mk1 in mind for this as the early Mk1 seats are more adaptable, or even easily removed. I wouldn't want to spend too many nights in it, but think it's great for car shows, weekends away etc.
Although this one is in great condition it did come without a ground sheet and pegs, hence the slightly baggy look.
Just trying it out in the photos, Panda is in a local agricultural show tomorrow so I took advantage of the grass to try it out. Can't wait to source the missing bits and try it out properly :D.

'GOTTSCHALK IZ 4 WINNARZ'

I've got two of these, one without the inner curtains and literature and the other with everything - paperwork suggests it's all for the MK1, but Panda Folklore suggests only available at the launch of the MK2 in April 1986...The history that came with my second tent would suggest that too, but ????

P.S. Just looked for the tent pics in my gallery but they aren't there. So did a search to a thread they are in https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-classic/17587-pictures-my-panda-tent.html

P.P.S 'urchin' & 'Allenfletcher' also have one, so could maybe provide further info.

Nice one vern,

You've got to use it on the mk1 anyway though, they have the back seats of the car that convert into a double bed. The awning bit wasn't designed for sleeping ;) (wait i'm not suggesting anything dodgy...literally just not sleeping lol).

Have fun!
Si

PS Love the thread title! You need to have that written somewhere on the tent lol :D

Yes, the Mk1 is what I had in mind for it too as it has a contrasting brown interior (y).

Just checked out your old thread VIN, the people who sold it to me used your pics in thier advert. Good to know there's a few more about.

A bit of tension on those guys will most certainly make the whole set-up a bit taughter and you need to peg down those rubber rings on the inside. Are the poles on the frame adjustable for height btw as the mud skirt should come to the ground? - the mud skirt is the black/dk grey strip round the bottom (y)

I'm picking up some tent pegs tomorrow so that should make all the difference (y). The poles are not adjustable but they may spread out a little wider, lowering everything slightly. It was put up very crudely when we took the pictures as I just wanted to get a sence of what it was like and what condition it was in, the camper van my never turn a wheel again ;).

looks good mate(y) myself Vin and Allen fletcher all had our tents up at stanford a few years ago classic car weekly took a pic of vins and it was in the following week. I got my first one (sold to allen with the sisley:cry:) from someone in the FMC I was told that fiat contacted the club and offered a pallet load of tents free to the club if they made a donation to WWF not sure how true that is though. heres a few pics of mine with the curtains fitted and the door up.

It is true, but sadly before my time & also long before either the cars or tents had any value!

Would love to find one for my mk1, so if anyone has one for sale......... (y)

Gavin.

Looks great (y), wish I could have seen them all. If that pallet load offer came off and they surfaced somewhere I think we'd have a stampede!

I've got my pegs now and a new groundsheet, just need a couple of guy ropes to hold the front flap open and she's good to go :D.
