Finally took my panda to be mot in the week and it failed on one thing the front brake line. Just replaced it this morning and brakes fine but now the horn isn't working.

Everytime I press the horn the lights go on and the fuel gauge rises so I'm guessing its an earthing problem. I've gone over every part of the new brake line and its not touching anything it shouldn't be but problem with horn is still there.

I;ve recently put a stereo in so thought might be this but i've checked it all and still got the same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions??

I had a complete mare when fitting my stereo last week. Wone min it worked, mext nothing. Same problem with my amps. Checked all earths, they seemed good. Also my fuel guage would rise and dash lights come on.

Finaly i decided to make a new earth strap and bingo, everything works perfectly now.

hi i am intrested in seeing your set up, any chance of pics?

The panda is tight on space so i am wondering where you mounted your ampS and what sort of ice set up your running in general

Thanks for all your help, I'm gonna have another go tomorrow with your suggestions.

hoping it works, this is the final hurdle then it'll be back on the road. Will post some pics soon.

Well i looked at earth strap, looks like has been replaced recently so I cleaned the ends etc but still same problem. Just as L7 KVV fuel guage rises, dash lights come on. i've also discovered it does this when lights turned on aswell as horn

I've had the dash out to see if wiring problem from when put in the stereo and cant see any problems.

Any further suggestions would be good as i've run out of ideas. Had two mates look at it and still no luck

I know it's a bit of a 'duh' question but have you checked the connections on the horn itself because it is sited right behind where the brakeline goes through the arch and behind the N/S headlight so given your symptoms it's an obvious place to look and likely to have been disturbed when you've been at the lines.

I;ve checked earth under heater not that and I didn't replace the brake line on horn side so didn't disturb that side but I have checked the horn and still no luck.

The horn is a switched earth so the earthing point won't be anywhere near the horn. I believe it's the same as the dash earthing point for the dash lights etc (although can't remember where that is).

thanks once again for your help will try to locate earth for horn. Fingers crossed its getting very frustrating now!

I don't know what the hedgehogs are (apart from the ones in my garden that is). Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for all your help after checking all earths, disconnecting horn, taking dash apart etc etc, finally turned out to be a loose connection with my foglights.

Nightmare but a least its fixed now and can get it back in for the mot. Fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong!
