Hello all
I have a leak in the oil sump, managed to get all the bolts off but the damn thing won't budge.
We employed lumps of wood and hammers and boots but there is no where to grab it by and I don't really want to start wedging stuff in between the gasket surfaces.

It is the late FIRE version that uses instant gasket inseted of the bits of cork.

Any one managed to get theirs off?
thanks

Yeah unfortunately the gasket, whether 'instant' or original, sticks the two sides together like you wouldn't believe.

Way to do it though - get your thinnest flat head screwdriver or even better a wallpaper scraper or gasket scraper and work your way around the edge.

You may be able to get your finger in the sump plug hole too if you take it out.

I did stick the wallpaper scraper in there but lost my nerve.
It is nice to know I am not missing anything and it really is that sticky.
If the sun stays out I will have another go.
thanks

I did one about a week ago it took about 10 mins of gentle prising with 2 x 20 inch pry bars just prying the lip of the steel sump using the wish bones as leverage. This does knacker the sump though i presume its rotton through like they do and your just replacing it.

Good look.
