My panda has just died with a loud knocking coming from the engine!!!! Any ideas?? Anybody know where i can get engine parts from? Or my engine reconditioned?? Or another engine?????

Sounds potentially quite bad!

What are the symptoms. Will the engine turn over? Has it ceased? Have you just got low oil levels/pressure and a rattley head - or has the bottom end literally failed?

Engines are available on ebay/FF/breakers.

No point re-conditioning unless the engine is low-mileage as you will already need the crank regrinding (£90) then a gasket kit (£30) then oversize crank/main bearings (£40) and thats not including anything else you find wrong e.g worn piston ring grooves, big ends etc.

Engines can be as little as...for free! I and others have literally given panda engines away.

thanks for your reply. yes it does turn over but does not run properly. sounds like it is running on 2 never mind 3 cylinders. oil is good and knocking is very loud!! my brother is a mechanic and he reckons its the big end!!!! or crank shaft bearings!!!! basically its nakered i think.

have not got the time money or energy to fix it. is up for sale spares or repair for £300 3 months tax 6 months mot. rest of the car is in very good condition for its age. please see classified section.
