General White Hen Rebuild

General White Hen Rebuild

Photos taken with an actual camera this time  Not an old phone stuck in sepia mode. The little triangular plate is two 0.9mm plates welded together to approximate the thickness of the heavy gauge reinforcement plate at the front of the sill. The battery tray/bulkhead looking poorly :(

(edit the B&W pics are of trial fitting a finished cover sill section that I was quite pleased with, shiny metal :yum:)

Did some mechanical therapy a couple of days ago. Still getting used to the prospect of being a father so replaced this grotty looking engine mount for a decent looking spare as therapy. Quite a pleasant repair and stopped my worriting for half an hour. Would it have failed the MOT the way it was?

Congratulations mate! Well chuffed for you :)

Oooh, I totally missed out the bottom of the last page there. Good news! Have to say we got dead lucky, Wife happened to buy an estate car shortly before we found out she was expecting, meant to be! Certainly helped but Grumbleweed was still in service throughout;)

.....It's a very nice 206, what are you like with electronics??

Massive Congrats Kris, that's great news! My two love riding about in the Panda so I'm sure it'll be the same with the Y10. Street cred at less than 1 is an epic start in life!

Cheers Andy :) Hopefully my sprog will be as enamoured with the Y10 as yours are with the Panda.

Cheers matey, maybe the curse is finally lifting. The 206 is a Roland Garros special edition isnt it? Not good with electronics yet but Dragon Man activities are encouraging me to learn
Well Davids little ones seemed happy enough in the back of his Panda so yours should be ecstatic to be in a posh one!

Hopefully! A young lad walked past it after I finished the fuel filler cap repairs and commented it was a cool car.

Bit the bullet and have paid to have some professional work done on the interior. Retrimmed the an original Fila drivers seat bolster. I knew it would be bright red against the faded red of the rest of the car but it was better than living with the ratty seat base that there at the moment.

Take the old bolster off and.......................the seat design is different.

Instead of the usual wire mesh thing there is a deeper metal tray with a deeper foam cushion to fit in. B*gger :(

I would have used an original Fila seat the bolster came with but its frame was badly bent as if it had been in an accident. Id already swapped the fabric Fila seat back onto the old LX seat the car came with and found the design there to be identical so had assumed the seat base to be the same. Thoughts on best way to resolve :bang:

Been given the use of this garage :D Very pleased with this, no more laying on the ground in the open. It has lights, electrickery. Hopefully I can be a lot more ambitious in my repairs now.

I love this photo, it says:
me and my little home.

Ps. There is rear lower panel on ebay for Y10.

Its a great little garage. Its completely detached so you get quite a lot of privacy with it.

That would be this panel http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lancia-y1...132637&rk=3&rkt=4&sd=171513981841#ht_42wt_959

I'd be tempted but its pricey and I'm used to fabricating stuff now.

Great stuff! It makes a difference not having to work outside

Indeed I can watch Roadkill or Mythbusters on my laptop whilst working :D

I was in Chernobyl area a couple of weeks ago.

Whilst there I was thinking my cars more or less the same age as the accident, and its ageing way better than Pripyat and the surrounding area..

Hmm maybe not

My hopes for a roadworthy car are fading in the nearterm. Bit of a bummer really. I miss driving it and a car would be really useful at the moment.

Metal moth behind the rear number plate. Now you see it, now you don't.

The drivers side inner rear wing is pretty ronnied. Pretty new bit arrived in post to help overcome this.
