Those at Panda camp may remember I had a car in one piece. With the MOT freshly expired I have waded into the front drivers side sill. I was fearing it would be terrible and it is. The one structural area of the car thats never had any work and it shows. Gratuitous wheel shot to give me hope. Oh and the vulcanization has failed on one of the strut tops. Its on order from Germany

Oh cack!

I've been thinking about tin worm and gertie. I could go down the "bucket" route, but I'm scared that there wouldn't be anything left when it came out of the chemical bath

I'm sure you'll have it sorted in no time (y)

Thank you chaps (y)

Vern was saying Gertie is pukka for the most part. But then i can understand the desire to chemical bathe it. A rust free car is something you don't have to keep worrying about.

Wow! That's a fair hole. Although rust is lighter than carbon fibre, and air is even less weighty :)

Seriously though good luck on the work ahead and keep us updated, it was great to see the car for the first time and I will be wanting to see it again in the near future! :)

Cheers Andy (y) Bit o progress. I ended up chasing the rot along the sill trying to find something solid to weld to. Decided to fabricate new outer sill section as it was just easier than trying to repair the trashed original. So some good progress on inner and outer sill. The floor I always weld from inside the car anyway so I may do that today when I can be bothered to get out of bed :)

Hey peeps, another update from me. So cue iffy mobile pics of rust. I have cut a massive hole in the front jacking point /floor to get rid of the rot. So big in fact I could put my mobile inside the car and watch YouTube through the hole while working.

Coming soon the "all new" Y10 Fila!... :D

Hadn't thought of it like that. I'm not just slapping patches on, i'm making new Lancia :)

Man that tin worm just loves those Lancias

Good work man, keep the updates coming! Looking forward to seeing her back in action :)

Rust does love them, and they hide it really well. Sorry for the sepia 1920s look, havn't figured how to turn that off. Fresh metal continues to spread. Tip though is Gasless MIG welders suck quite a lot. Okay for tacking stuff on but running a seam is all but impossible.

This repair area is my next but one job on mine.
I quite like the "nostalgic" look of the photos!

Yes like old yellowed copies of Autocar. Its a tricky area to repair as there are lot of intersecting panels. I had to cut away so much stuff that my repairs are more a close approximation than anything else. As long as its strong that the main thing.
