Hi all,

Last week I pulled out the choke, only for the plastic lever to come away from the choke cable. On inspection, the metal T piece that locks into the lever had broken off. Never had this problem before, normally the plastic lever breaks, not the cable!

Now I could buy a new cable, but since my latest car project is only its MOT away from completion, does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions as to how I can reattach the cable to the lever?

My current plan is to use a chocolate block clamped onto the cable, with a loop of wire at the other end, but I am struggling to pull the cable out with a pair of pliers at the moment, so expect that the chocolate block won't be up to the job.

Not the best of weather to have a dodgy choke :(

I think the set up on the Y10 must be a bit more exotic than the Panda.

As far as I recall, it's just a round knob on the end of the cable, and it locks out with a twist.

If the inner is the sort of gauge I think it is, you might get a bolt tightened fixing from a bike shop, and if it's much thicker than that, maybe a hardware shop - something like "bulldog" grips.

There's an attachement around here somewhere...

D'ye want a choke Knob and cable in thier housing ?

Thanks for the offer, but it won't fit.

Must be another one of those "little differences" - the Y10 has got a proper choke housing, the cable links into a plastic lever which is mounted in a surround. Sounds like the panda has a mini style choke - a pull button on the end of a cable.

So the Y10 is not like this:

If I used this I would have to cut the end off to attach it - and the result would be the same as what I have already - no easy way to clip it onto the choke lever.

The normal way is the cable has a 'T' piece at the end which clips into the lever. Sadly the 'T' piece has broken.
