hi guys does anyone no if there are any conversions so you can change a manual choke to a automatic choke ? on a 999cc fire engin ?

does anyone know what it would involve to do this ???

thanks

Hi there,

I am sorry to be negative here, but automatic chokes are terrible!! Pain in the a*** to set up and usually cause the engine to over rev or stall when its cold. I am sick of my auto choke and every auto choke I have ever had!! So obviously my advice is to keep the manual choke and decide for yourself how much to give it. Will give you more power that way most probably and also save you on fuel too. Unless you have better luck setting it up than I have over the last 7 years!

If you are reeeally sure you want to fit an auto choke though; then a weber specialist will probably have a kit you can fit, or fit another weber with an auto choke fitted already. It will have to be plumbed into your coolant system so it activates as the engine warms up.

Hope that helps!

second that, only ever had two auto choke carb cars, the Kia would rev its nuts off when you first started it up and for the first 5 minutes of driving, and the Pug 405 was better but if you accidentally brushed the the accellerator before you turned the key it refused to start (My dad actually bought one brand new and made that same mistake on the forecourt when he went to pick it up. Good start!)
is pulling a knob really such a chore? (insert smutty comments below)

thanks guys i like the manual choke its not a problem for me i was just interested in what your thorts where on them thanks for your replys im gunna get a bigger carb soon
