Hey all Iv'e waded into rebuilding my little Weber 32 TLF. All going swimmingly but I don't know what the rubber rings and the rectangular gasket in pic 3 are for:confused: I cant see anywhere obvious in the carb where they would go. Any ideas :)

OK if you pull the venturi out while you've got the top and bottom apart, (careful, it's held in by a tiny roll pin on the side away from the float chamber) the small rectangular gasket goes on the open end of the venturi itself.
O rings dunno, I had quite a few left over, the only one I did change is at the end of the idle mix adjust screw.

hi there i no this isnt to do with this but does anybody no how to turn the fuel down on the carb ???

Hi, i only use one of the o-rings and its the one that sits under the jet that looks like a little tap into the venturi. It can be quite stiff so might take some gentle persuasion.

In answer to the last question there is a small brass screw at the base of the carb usually that is in-set. Screw it clockwise to weaken the mixture (reduce the fuel) but this is only at idle. Engine revs will increase as you increase fuel. The way to set it up is to screw it anti-clockwise to increase mixture, then gradually screw it back in (clockwise) until the engine starts to hunt (run very lumpy and almost stall). Gradually screw it back out again (anti-clockwise) and stop at the point where the engine revs start to run smoothly. You can then adjust your idle speed to suit. Better to have your idle speed a little too high while setting this idle mixture also. Hope thats clear anyway

Cheers,
Si

you can adjust the idle mixture using the screw buried in the hole below and to the right of where the throttle cable attaches to the spindle. screw in for a leaner mix, out for richer. This doesn't really affect the mix on the move though, only at idle, to adjust through the range of throttle openings you really have to change jets, and different size jets for a webber 32tlf isn't exactly something that crops up regularly on ebay.
edit: see Simon got in too while I was one finger typing:eek:

Thanks for all the replies guys. Most helpful. The carburettor really is its own little world within the car. Im expecting to remove the mixture screw and find illegal immigrant borrowers in there :D Il post some more pics when i'm not shattered.

yeh thanks guys has anyone got a pic so i no what one to turn because the are 2 gold screws a higer one and a lower one when i turn the higer one anti clockwize the revs drop and it starts hunting is that rite ????? thanks

Ok guys I have another question. Has anybody ever unscrewed this brass screw. It houses a spring loaded ball bearing and normally lives behind the triangular thing also pictured. I could just leave it be but I dont want to ignore things when the carbs already stripped down. Might as well go the whole hog

couldn't get mine to budge, massively tight. started to damage the head trying to get it out so I decided to leave it be.
