hey all.
i got a panda 1000 fire clx and its in perfect cond. no rust and running perfectly. all up untill yesterday when the gear box came free of the mounts and the driveshaft stripped it. i dont understand all the technical stuff, but my dads a mechanic and said that all it needs is a new gearbox. does anyone know where i can get hold of one? we can drive practicaly anywhere in the country. also if anyone has an engine as well as a gearbox it never hurts to have spares.
thanks peeps.

p.s. remember that i am a poor lil student and am not the richest person in the world but, wil pay a fair ammount :) cheers

I'm not aware of any local to me, but Pandafan dismantles Pandas from time to time.

First though - without any disrespect to your Dad, are you sure the existing gearbox is dead?

The driveshaft is only located at the gearbox end by virtue of the distance between the hub and the gearbox being the same as the length of the driveshaft.
At the hub end there is a large nut which holds the driveshaft in place.

If your gearbox came loose due to failed mountings the inboard end of the driveshaft could pop out.

It might just go back in (with a new boot).

I'd follow John H's advice first, the gearboxes are quite tough externally (It's the internals that are less than wonderful.

If you really do need a new gearbox, please let me know which one and I'll keep my ears open.
