Hey guys this is my first tech question...

I have recently got hold of a panda and my friend who is a little bit mechanically minded has told me that I need to clean/replace the carb on my panda in order for her to start a little easier...

I have looked into cleaning the carb but I cannot find a overhaul kit anywhere. So now I am looking at replacing it...

a friend has offered me a carb from a 999 engine and i was just wondering if that would fit and work or would it cause problems?

Hope you guys can help.

Thanks hal.

750 Carbs have different jetting. They will physically fit as the bodies are the same and probably work as MEP suggests. You can therefore screw out the jets from one carb and put into another and convert it into a different capacity carb. The jet details are in the Haynes manual.

been investigating this recently and wierdly factory spec for the carb jets seems to be identical too. Main jet on 750, 999 and 1108 carbs is a 105, idle jet is a 47 for the 750 and a 46 for the 999/1108 oddly. air correction jet on the main is a 165 and a 50 on the idle on both 999 and 1108 (don't have info on a 750 as that is from an uno fiat workshop manual) I was looking at setting up a 999 carb for an 1108 but everything seems identical.
so basically give it a shot, 999 carb should whack straight on with possibly a tweak up of the idle mix screw.
Andrew.

Just referenced Haynes and the jets for 999 and 1108 are the same as you say, but the 750 is different on the idle jet as you mention and air correction is also different at 170. Also the auxiliary venturi is a touch smaller, which would probably have a noticeable impact on torque on a well tuned engine. Another thing that separates the 750 from other carbs is that it does not have what is described as a "superfeed jet". Presume this is a jet that adds fuel after the butterfly under hard acceleration. You don't have that "performance" feature therefore and get better economy as a result no doubt.

I wouldn't think putting a 750 carb on a higher capacity engine is a good idea, but the other way round is safe at least.

right enough, I've just discovered where Haynes hid the carb jet data finally.
so the superfeed jet is one that does differ on the 999 and 1108 carbs, superfeed goes from 0.4 to 0.45, and the full power jet goes from 0.5 to 0.55. now I'm guessing the superfeed is the brass tube that angles into the top of the main venturi and the full power jet must feed into the same outlet as the accellerator pump. Now the superfeed doesn't look removeable and I can't see any calibration markings and I can't see where the full power jet is..must be deep in the bowels somewhere, but if I can figure this out I might just finally find out which of my partially disassembled carbs actually matches my engine!!!:slayer:
Hal, next time you've got the airbox off you don't fancy getting a photo of the 750 carb do you just so I can see what's missing. Just to confirm the superfeed thing. sorry to hijack your thread slightly but I've been trying to figure this out for ages.
For your 750 the main air correction jet and the idle jet you can swap out of your current carb into the new one without any disassembly, they're the two you can access from the top, just unscrew and swap. To swap the secondary venturi is dead easy too if you want to but that does involve taking the top off the carb so might want to leave that to avoid disturbing the gasket unless it's giving problems.

Hey guys I have found some place that does the overhaul/service kits for the panda but I am unsure what carb I have...Its a Weber but I cannot find the part/model number on it.

By any chance do any of you guys know what carb I have? I have checked my trusty Haynes manual and it says a Weber 32 TLF 11/250 is that rite? Just want to double check don't want to get the wrong kit!

Does anyone have a spare carb by any chance or know of any places I can find a cheapish one to fill the gap so that way I can take my time taking my one apart. I don't mind if it is a 999.

Also I have been reading the wealth of information on this site (ITS AMAZING!! THANKS TO EVERYONE) and I have come to learn that my vacuum advance is kaput... Any advice on where to get another one of them? I have checked ebay, but no success.

Thanks to everyone and their help I never knew anything about engines before my panda but now... I have learned soo much, its great!!

Thanks again! :D

That will be your carb, the Haynes manuals are usually pretty accurate, all Fire engined carb'd Pandas had Weber 32TLFs, just variations for the different engine sizes as you know.

As far as know the only place to get a vacuum advance is from a dealer, I got one earlier this year, cost £35, which is alot but it really made a difference to my MPG and performance so was worth it. The part number is 9939936. One may pop up on eBay if you wait long enough though.

Sorry I missed your post! I only just saw it now, tomorrow after work I will take a few pics and post them on this thread. Thanks everyone, My panda will soon be purring away! :slayer: :D

Dont I have to be a donated member before I get discount?
