Those of you following the progress of the Road Rat may remember me telling you that I had to get the car back to Wales from the North East due to my mother moving house and subsequently having nowhere to keep the car.
Well, when I knew this was happening I applied to my local council for a garage and after eight weeks waiting I was told one had become available. This was great timing as it was just before I last travelled up north to get the car. The council told me I'd have the paperwork to sign within a week. "Great!" I thought. "That means it'll be waiting for me when I get back to Wales."
Yeah right. The car has been parked on the trailer outside my house for five weeks now and there is still no sign of the paperwork. Every time I phone them up I just get fobbed off by lazy, useless tw@ts. I've now written to my local MP to try and get something done and also suggested an efficiency review of the department concerned. It's unbelievable.
Anyway, I decided to do some work on it today, despite everything. It's a bit awkward with it being on the trailer but you just have to be careful.
I noticed that the boot was filling up with water when it rained so I decided to take out the wooden floor I made for it and drill some drain holes. However, when I lifted the floor a load of paint came away with it so I had to peel off all the loose paint as well. Then paint it again before I put it back together.
Here it is on the trailer outside my house, where it shouldn't be by now but it is because the local council employ lazy, useless people.
And here we have the boot floor removed.
This is the floor.
This is the boot with the drain holes drilled and freshly painted.
And I also decided to repaint the wooden floor while I was at it.
And here it is all back together again.
