Ok guys, I'm having a moment. I blame the sun

Anyway, the wires on the coil, one is brown the other blue or green, hard to tell.

Which of these is the negative terminal, there is no marking on the coil, the brown wire has 12v going to it with the ignition on the blue / green does not.

I've wireing in the rev counter but dont want to connect the final wire until I'm sure I know which is which.

BTW the coil is not the cylinder type but the square looking thing.

Are you on about the twin coil pack set-up?

Connecting it to a coil will only give half reading if this is the case. RPM signal needs to be taken from the ECU

I'd love to connect it to an ECU but Bex is a little long in the tooth for such things.

Being a 1988 one it has a carb with manual choke etc.

Ah yes, the electrnic 4x4 ignition. Not sure what you'd need to connect it to TBH

I'm sure someone else must know though and will hopfully be along shortly as I'm sure a few have been fitted to Panda's in the past.

apologies for the quality but it's getting dark and my phone doesn't like it.
if this is right, my tacho signal cable is the red one with the connector block on it, goes to the top connection in the pic.

Well I had a go at it this week end. Fitted it all up and using the second hand one I bought from a member on here there was nothing, bugger all, zip.

Thinking oh well I then bought a brand new Tim rav counter, again fitted that all up, this time soldering the wires, it worked, ish, it was all over the place. Then it stopped working.

I then re located the earth wire to give it its own dedicated earth spot.

Again it worked a bit, then died.

Now it wont do a thing so I've given up. The multimeter shows all the correct voltages going from the wires but it still will not work.

Now a second hand one I can accept might have been broken, but then a new one doing that it has me a tad puzzled.

alas there is a nice new dial doing bugger all :slayer:

want to meet up and compare? might be easier to troubleshoot if you've got a working one to check from.

That might be a very good plan m8. This week / week end is a no go for me but I'll give you a PM on here once I find out where I'm going to be when.
