Later on today I will be buying a Fiat Panda. Sort of a temporary car. Here's my situation, I'd like an old Mini but the £1,300 I just sold my car for wouldn't get me a good one so by getting a cheap car I can save up for one. This is where the Panda (already named Paolo by the family) comes in!

As a newbie I'll introduce myself too. The name's Luke, I'm 19 years old and live in Caerwent in South Wales. Car history:
- (March 2008-September 2008) 1993 Peugeot 309 Zest 1.9D. Had to sell it on as I lost my job and couldn't afford to run it. Brilliant car.
- (October 2008-October 2008) 1996 Vauxhall Astra Mk3 Merit 1.4. This car was so bad I realised I preferred the buses so scrapped it after 3 weeks of ownership.
- (March 2009-June 2010) 1999 Ford Focus LX 1.8TDDi estate. Fantastic car. But being 19 with 3 points on my license and a country lane collision under my belt ... I just can't afford the insurance any longer.

So, the car I should be buying today (when the guy hurrys up and hands over the cash for my Focus!) is a 1993 Fiat Panda 1000 Fizz. It's on eBay at the moment but I've already spoke to the guy and he's accepted my offer. Car has just gone through the MOT, had a bit of rust underneath that has been corrected to get through the MOT, 4 new tyres, 81K on the clock.

She looks tidy. Just hope she's as good as she looks because I'm not going to hesitate taking the train back home if it's not in good nick. But as it's just been through an MOT, can't see there being any serious problems.

Well, that's my story. I'm sure you lot are as much fun as the guys over at the Ford Owners Club. :D

Hi Luke,

Ah well... drize the Fizz for a few months and dreams of old Minis will fade into obscurity!! I've heard it said (by people that have driven both for long periods) that the Panda is a better car!! (Bloody should be... it's 25 odd years younger!)

Welcome to the forum and have fun with the Fizz (get some pictures up on here).

All the best, Luke. (y)

Hi Luke welcome to the Panda section .

Don't know what the Ford guys are like but they can't be as much fun as us! We've got a few youngsters with Pandas now, so don't worry, you won't always have to converse with old f*rts like me :).

I assume the Fizz you're looking at is the red one in Plymouth. If so, it looks fine from what I can see, certainly a good start. Hope you get it at a good price (y).

Cheers, Vernon.

Welcome to the forum, Panda's are great cars. They are not as unpowerful as people think. (y)
not compared to, say, a Marbella:devil::p
welcome aboard. Suck it and see with your Panda but if you're busy dreaming of tearing up monte carlo in a cooper you could do a lot worse than casting an eye over Leweys handiwork, you might just stick with what you've got:cool:
