Hello everyone, im a learner driver and i have just bought a fiat panda classic style 1991 750 L.

as i am new to fiats, i would like to get to know the community better. and to start me off, lets get out our pandas and compare them. Just drop an image of your classic panda into the thread,

i also have a citroen 2cv, so im not new to small unpowered cars, and in the words of the antiques roadshow, "worthless but great fun" which my little panda certainly is. i picked "Jake" the panda up for £300, he is to be my second car, i have already owned my 2cv "leroy" for 2 years. and been driving it on L plates. I drove my panda over 78 miles back to my home in yorkshire. which for me was tiring and not to mention stressful, having a designated liscence holder gripping onto the old panda seats for dear life! (im not that bad at driving) "jake" did well on his first run in over a year, he felt like a new car as i pulled him out onto the road and headed for home, not a care in the world as i cruisded through the city of sheffield with the heaters on and quiet hum of the hairdryer under the bonnet. to my surprise, it was alot quieter than my 2cv. "jake" had alot of power in him, his electrics all worked fine, and his body work is to my eye perfect, apart from some rust blemishes on the doorskins, which is easy patch work. "Jake" recieved a warm welcome into the family driveway as i pulled into the cul de saq in which i reside, i parked him on the road for a while, whilst my parents took a look at him, i took my mother for a ride in "jake" as she has always loved fiat panda, reminding her of a tiny land rover! (i wish it was a landrover!) the seats were alot confier than i imagined they would be, afterall i have never even seen a fiat panda (atleast not for 8 or 9 years) the panda then proved it's self as i took it to my friends homes to see what they thought of him, they all approved saying it was a bargain for £300, and was alot better than the 2cv i always drove. (i should realy post a picture of that also) them saying that put me onto the panda more than my beloved 2cv, but i can understand why, "jake" was alot more modern than my dated 2 cylinder french car... lets hope jake can do what he was bought to do and pass my driving test in it! (by the way, you cant do a driving test in a 2cv, no head rests! Pfft!) he would be my savior!... I noticed alot of difference driving jake home this afternoon, the stress was not as apparnt as in the 2cv, with the racket of the engine, and my dad wasnt like a cat on hot bricks (well most of the time)

Here i am saying like jake is the perfect car, well he had some down sides.

He had a broken windscreen wider arm, the splines have been damaged, a common fault on panda's i have been told. but its easily fixed. if you can find the parts! please let me know if you have a panda windscreen motor.

Anyway, please respond to my post wil your own storys about your beloved classic pandas! (y)

The images i have posted

The panda, "jake"

The red 2cv is my 2cv before resto
and the orange and white one is what it looks liek now, not the actual car but what is more or less looks like, i dont have a picture of it how it is now for some reason.

Hooray! I'm not the only one then! I've had 2CVs ever since 1988 - I bought one new then; my current model is a 1969 AK350 van  I also drive a '95 Panda CLX Maybe you could post a pic or two in the non-Fiat section of Members' Motors? It would be nice to see a late 2CV in 'Spot' trim ;)

Welcome to the Forum btw

ps: what's the cat's name?

My first car was a 750L in red. rubber floor and sling seats, great fun car and power that I never quite expected! I remember a few days after getting it I removed all the seats and left them at home (they come out really easily!). One time, my sister wanted a lift to work, I told her that i didn't have the seats in and she said "thats fine, I just need to get there". So off we went! She was sitting on the floor of the Panda and even funnier still, she had the seatbelt across her! It was the funniest journey I'd ever done in my life and made sure there was plenty of roundabouts! She was a little bruised and travel sick when we arrived, but it was so worth it, even she had to laugh! They're brilliant little vans these things once the seats are out, so much room inside! Of course, this was years ago and wouldn't dream of doing such a thing now! :p

I now have the white CLX as you can see in my signature and I only picked her up on Sunday! 35600miles on the clock and an absolute beauty. This is my 5th Panda (1st - 750l, 2nd 1000CL, 3rd 1000CL, 4th 54plate dynamique - still have!) and I still miss my old 750!

Welcome to the forum! (y)

i only passed my driving test 3weeks ago and have a 86' panda 750L, shes a cracking little run around and she's alot nippier and more comfortable than i fort, suprisingly all my freinds love her aswell (as they've all got mod'ed fiesta's and polo's mine still turns the most heads down southend seafront on a sat night!) enjoy the panda while you have her and im pretty sure mine wont b my last panda!

Ahh another Panda driver with a remarkable similar username.... Anyway, passed my driving test today and have taken the Panda (1988 4x4 with <60,000 miles) out to stretch its legs this afternoon so I went out cycling and drove there instead of riding there!! (y)

I had a new Vauxhall Corsa but he problem in being the vertically challenged individual that I am, is that you can never quite tell where the end of the car is.... Plus it has a quite high rear windscreen which makes reversing harder than it needs to be. But luckily I have the Force in my side!

MEP ;) I haven't been here long and I have already opened my wallet!
