Got my latest project home yesterday. I really, really want to save it (it's a D reg Sisley, 45,000 miles).

Knew that the doors, tailgate, wings etc needed work, but now I've had a good look at it the rear crossmember (underneath boot floor e.g. where exhaust mounts) is absolutely rotten. Can work with that.

However when collecting it the gearchange was seized, could hardly move gearlever at all. Was told it was due to being stood. Soaked in Duck Oil overnight, guess what happened this morning......gearlever snapped. Heavyhanded me strikes again.... Looks to me like the problems might stem from a heavy whack from below when offroad (there is a big dent next to the linkage).

Jon (MEP), is this what happened to your car? Was it an external linkage problem or an internal box one? If it's external I might be able to get it sorted. am not sure I have the appetite or time for having to swap the gearbox itself (or find a gearbox for that matter). Any suggestions (or encouragement, please).....

PS Happy New Year everyone and good luck with your various Pandas/projects!
