Hi
has anyone experienced this . The engine runs for a few miles then it appears
as if the carb is over choking with petrol and it slowly stops with no responce
from the throttle. You leave it for 2 minutes and it starts perfectley and drives
off normally. I have changed the diaphram on the choke arm (its the weber carb) . i have changed the carb as well now with no result . i have changed the distributor as well now, again with no result.
There is petrol in the float chamber but as i have said it stalls because of excessive fuel. I have fitted a fuel filter but that has made no difference. Has
anyone any idea's . I am now thinking coil break down or the ballast resistor? .
thanks fiat903

If it's just started happening with the cold weather, you probably have carburettor icing - not sure of the air heating arrangement on 903s, I think it depends on the age a bit as to how it's done.

hi johnh
thanks for the rapid reply. Good idea . the manifold is water fed and that appears to be hot , but is it the temp as it flows through the carb. i will look
into the hot air supply for winter. i have had it dying on me today on the drive and i managed to get the air cleaner off and i looked down the carb and it appeared to me as if the petrol was excess and not vapourising properly.
I will post a reply as to how i get on .
many thanks

re iceing

reply to John H

Thanks john . I put on new air ducting from the exhaust manifold and a better shield on the actual exhaust manifold . Newer type airbox and i have
not missed a beat since and a much smoother engine in the mornings.
Again thanks for the sound advice.

happy xmas
