I have just had the panda stood in the workshop overnight and it has leaked about ¼ cup of gear oil.
This must be the seal on the main shaft right? Nowhere else for it to come out (lets not think about cracks).

Is there a quick was of getting to this area? I usually drop the entire engine/gearbox but suspect I may be able to move just the engine if all is supported.

Also why is it leaking? The filler plug level is below the main shaft. I suspect I may have done it no good during a recent overhaul and pressure wash in the bell housing.

Any advice appreciated.

Should have checked more carefully before posting.
Oil seems to be from the right boot-gearbox join. I seem to remember a damaged mating face in that area. May require some epoxy paste or something.

Phew, enging can stay in.

They are only a few months old and look in good nick. I know there is a pice of ali broken off from the boot seal area. It happened when the engine fell out of the doner car and the drive shaft hit the side, but there has been no leak until the recent overhaul.

Surley a boot leak is fairly common and many people would not pick it up until the gearbox is dry. Are they fairly robust or just blow when this happens?

I towed my 1000s back after eBay purchase (200m?) with low or no oil in gearbox/final drive (never thought to check!) - perished CV boot had lost all it's oil. The speedo drive melted which was easy to replace from a scrapper.
I suspect this is why the gear box is a bit noisier than the CLX...
