General Charity Panda Drive from Marbella to the Arctic!

Hello all!

Two weeks to go and things are hotting up for our trip! We're getting plenty of publicity now! We're leaving from the Platform Tavern in Southampton at 7pm! We'll be there at 5. If any of you are in the area it'd be good to see you at our big send off :)

We've got a blog on our website http://www.arcticmarbellas.webs.com if you'd like to follow our progress (Or otherwise?!) through Europe in the little Spanish Pandas!

Cheers(y)

Might pop down as not to far from southampton. whats date?

We leave on Friday the 18th September! We're booked on the 8.30pm ferry from Portsmouth, so will probably leave Soton at 6.45! It'd be great if you could make it down!

You will manage, we cross fingers(y)
There was a Marbella in our last trip to Romania, at it made almost 5kkms (almost) without problems. The only problem with her was fuel vaporization in high temperatures, above 30 deg. C. Sometimes she started only after putting a small dose of fuel straight to the carb. But I doubt you will have such problems in the Arctic (but in Spain, who knows...;))

I think it's going to be higher than 30 degrees in the south of Spain! We'll have to look out for that problem! Maybe we'll have to travel by night....

Best of luck with it thou you should be fine as the panda gods have said they will be on your side! We're off to the sahara in ours in a month so maybe compare notes when we're all back? Jim

Take a can of fuel with you. And a syringe.
But it's strange, that this problem occured only in Marbella, not in Pandas (with different engines - 750 carb, 900 carb, 1000 carb and fuel inj., 1100 fuel inj.:() And only after a stop on a hot day. As long as Marbella was going, everything was OK. She simply refused to start after a stop.

It won't be that warm at the end of september:confused:

Like it's only 25'c today....

My Gran lives near Seville, she reckons it's in the low 30's at the moment! It's a warm old place up there!

Good luck for the Sahara! A friend of mine crossed it in a suzuki vitara for charity last year. I guess the AA won't cover you out there ;)!

Hi All,

You will be pleased to learn we made it from Marbella to the Arctic Circle in 4 days 21 hours in our little Marbellas. :D Both cars performed perfectly, without a single mechanical issue at all. (y)

We all agreed they were a pleasure to drive!

The whole trip from Southampton to Marbella to the Arctic and back to Southampton took us nine days. If you'd like to see some pictures of the adventure they are here on our website!

I'll upload some to the forum later too..

One of our team of drivers, new to panda piloting, was so impressed by their performance he has sworn to track down a black marbella of his own from somewhere... no idea why a black one... but that's the aim.

Maybe next year there will be three Marbellas on another charity trip!

Thanks to you all for your interest in our slightly mad SEAT scheme :worship:

Good that you made it back, though to be honest, i have not had a problem with my Marbella as yet appart from lip rust , but well done. how much did you raise?

£3900 so far, and the total is still climbing. (y)
We got quite a lot of press coverage, particularly on the Costa del Sol!
