Had a good few weeks, our 'rescued' Bianca and 4x4 got through MOTs so very happy!

One mystery though - the 4x4 pulls strongly to the left when in 4x4 mode. Otherwise drives well (now, after new clutch, gearbox, master cylinder...doors....etc) although feels like a brake is binding slightly. Any ideas? Could the problems be related? I'm trying to think it through logically but don't have much experience with the 4x4 system so am stumped!

Thanks for any help! David

my guess would be rear differential, if it appears only with 4x4 on.
If not- air pressure, bearings, breaks.

It sounds like it could be the rear diff. Mine pulled violently when i broke my front diff (like this), but if it had shattered in the same way as mine I would expect it to pull in 2 and 4wd regardless.

Put the rear on axle stands so the wheels are in the air. With it in 2wd and the handbrake off try turning the wheels. They should turn fairly freely and the opposite wheel should be turning backwards.

Be very careful doing this, but you could also put all the wheels in the air, engage 4wd, put it in gear and gently let the clutch out. Have a helper check the wheels are all turning evenly. Then, give it some revs so the wheels spin quickly, take it out of gear, and watch for any wheels that stop spinning faster than the others. Also listen out for any rattles or noises as the wheels slow down. Turn the engine off whilst you do this to help hear any noise.
Don't accelerate hard, let the clutch up violontly, or brake hard whilst doing this or you risk knocking the car of the stands.
