Is there a special way to do this. This is what happens when i put fuel in.

I'm going to get tired of this pretty quick...

The tighter I do the hose clips the more it leaks. I put it down to the stupid oblong shaped pipe into the fuel tank it's a bit battered and must be concaving when it's tightened. I've tried to reshape it but not sure it's helping. Why oh why didn't fiat make the pipe round?????

Any one got a way to do this?? At this rate i'll have to epoxy the pipe on.

It doesn't look like you have it on all the way from the photo. Warm it up with a hair dryer (obviously with no fuel flying around) and it will become a lot more flexible. Push it on untill it touches the tank, then try again. Tie-wraps may be the way to go, big fat ones......

Thanks for the replies, I think I have sorted it.

Where was your leak zulu?

I actually damaged my pipe and ahd to cut about 15mm off the end so its not as long as it should be. That said the pipe will only seal around the rubber bit, which is all the way on to the tank pipe. So not sure it's worth pushing it really far on. (though the pipe is probably undamaged that far on)

The problem with mine seems to be the bottom part of the pipe in to the tank appears to be dented ever so slightly. Rather than try and bend it back out (couldn't think of a way to do it) I use chemical metal to build up the bottom of the pipe. See the over exposed bit of the picture.

I think it's worked, though i'm not too happy. Going to keep a close eye on it.

Incidently, for future reference, I reckon the pipe could be replaced with some wide diameter pvc hose.

My leak was exactly where yours was, but that was with the old rusty tank (and no jubilee clip). I could see the petrol driping out. When the new tank was fitted (with jubilee clip), initially the tyre rubbed but after pushing the filler tube further on to the tank the tyre didn't rub and didn't leak!

I actually think the addition of the jubliee clip rather than the new tank actually fixed the leak though ...
