members motors is just that for members motors, dont have to be modified threads, can be a record of the cars life from 50 quid ebay panda to totaly restored, or just pics of every where the panda goes.

some panda lot have done theirs, some others have pmed me saying its great idea and are doing their threads when they have time

Yes. But we'd still like the main sticky thread just to keep them all nicely listed in one place.

Now if you were to ask me could we automate the sticky to skim through all "Panda" tagged MM threads then copy the first image found and paste it in .., yes, that is possible. However it wouldnt help us get the nicest image for the gallery etc etc...

In anycase, I can see a use for prefixes there for future projects, so it is now enabled.

However this doesnt affect the rulings we have at present :)

So how do we become aware of changes to their Panda if we don't always go over to their MM page? This is the biggest disadvantage of the system your suggesting. In the past a thread would pop up in the Panda section in bold to tell us there is something that you've not read. So how will we become aware of progress updates to cars now?

Can I get this straight. Panda section is now ONLY for problem threads and all general Panda chit chat needs to go in MM? It just dosen't make sence. Will make Classic Panda section redundant

Good point. :chin:

same way you find them punto section posts you always posting in :p

seems some people cant find their own threads in panda section to ad updates too either, this should help them loads, so they can keep it all to one thread, instead of a new one every time they get a new part

So what will the point of the Classic Panda section be then? What Threads we suppost to have if it can't be about our car(s)

 The impending doom of the Classic Panda section

Oh, how great that will be. A forum on how to fix things. Will make our cars, Classic Panda's, and Fiats in general (assuming this is going to be happening in every section) look like **** heaps.

Whats the point in that then?

So whats the point in the thing you click when you make a thread saying if its Technical or General etc? I thought that system was there to help filter out stuff. Why these people who have been complaining about general threads not been told to go off and use this screening feature?

Seems some things haven't been thought out compleatly from my point of view and that this is going to affect the majority of posters in this section.

maybe you should have took notice off the offtopic smilie when it was used, instead of having a go at the person who posted it then maybe the spam would have kept under control

Lots of good points here...A bit of fine tuning me thinks!!!

As has been said before...some discussion before hand would have been good...People will always find change difficult, but involve them and "hey presto" everyone wants to help and gets a lovely warm glow doing it!!!!

Plus people come up with great ideas....Hmmm...Plugs right this is a community...and MEP could have just hit the nail on the head if this community dies!! JUST how to fix things and what parts what???!!!..Zzzzzzzzz:sleep:....:nutter:

Daa daa da da daa da da da da daa daa....

A lot of confusion going on here - an MM thread is just a single thread on which to show off your car. Discussion about your car doesnt need to be kept exclusively to it - thats what the general tag is for.

Take a look at any of the other sections, they dont have the issues you forsee.

The issue we *do* have now is that if you want to keep discussion to MM threads, there is no way to know they have been updated. This is a valid concern.

However, for every problem there is a solution, and usually one which gives greater benefit over the original method.

So let's do this - I'll write a new plug in for the top of the forum (just above the thread listing) that shows the last 4 (or 5 depending on space) updated Panda MM threads, along with a thumbnail of each car (as long as the gallery has been used to upload the photos, this can be automated) - this will be bold or not based on whether you have already read it.

How about that?

I like the first two lines of your comment there Ben..(y)...What a shame this was not pointed out by others because the picture that was painted was NOT that..Perhaps if it was all this could have been sorted sooooo much easier!!..The keyword is respect and i thankyou Ben for showing us that in your replies...So i take it that we can continue to "Chat".."Show pic's of days out"..."Pandas we see on holiday"...etc etc...with a "General prefix"...

New mod eh?????....Go on Ben spill the beans. Or shall we start a thread about that with betting attached....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Ok chaps, for the meantime until I get back off my holidays, I've added a link to the very top of the forum which takes you directly to all filtered Classic Panda MM threads. This will of course be replaced by the new photo bar when I get it done, but for now it should make things a bit easier.

As we mentioned before, the Auction Watch threads are now down the right, and clicking on the ebay logo takes you to the filtered Auction Watch thread where you will see just Classic Panda.

As for chatting - I won't lie, ideally we'd like chat kept to LL so everyone can join in, however even I realise sometimes you prefer to share just with your bonded mates, so can see why sometimes it would be kept to Panda only.

I guess the easy answer is - if its Panda related, it goes in the Panda section as general. If its about an event (which hasnt happened) please post it in events, so it can go on the map and more people could get a chance to come. "Here is my new car / big change" Members Motors would be nice, "I just changed the bolts to square instead of hexagonal" - well, I guess we'll let that stay in Panda :p

If its general chat, we'd like it if you could put it in LL - however if you really dont want to, then so be it - but a few LL threads now and then would be nice ;)

It's appreciated the Classic Panda community here is a very special 'gift' to the forum and we really don't want to destroy that, however I hope a few simple changes (with as much comprimise as possible) will help make the forum a much better place for everyone.

(y)

As always, any comments or complaints are welcome :D
