This is a thread to try and sort the newest Sisley out. I changed the carb for the one from the donor 750L today. She started and ran sweet as a nut :D

Driving around the farm, and all was well until I stalled her. Then had problems restarting and would stall at idle.

Now does this when ever she's warm :(

Going to change air filter, plugs and HT leads. What else could need doing to prevent this? What could be causing this problem? Not likly to be the flappy thing in the air filter houseing box thing is it

The flap in the airbox feeds warm air into the intake when the engine is cold. Without it the carburettor risks icing up in cold weather. If the problem only occurs when the engine is warm then it's unlikely to be this ;)

Difficulty starting and stalling when warm - dizzy ignition amplifier module?

Will change it next then me thinks.

Anyone a spare one to sell? It's one of these ones, with the cooling fins look

Pic pinched from firstcar-y10 I think from another thread

I assume all 4x4's were 'points' less, and electronic, wern't they

I would put money on it being that thing*looks up*
Had lots of fun when mine started playing up... mainly at traffic lights, T junctions and roundabouts (n)

The two distributors, Marelli and Ducellier, will interchange mechanically but the wiring connections will not. I do not know if the looms/plugs are in any way compatible as I have never had a Ducellier unit to compare.

Although both Marelli and Ducellier distributors are available with points or electronic components, on the 4x4's from 86on ( and possibly before ) only electronic units were fitted.

Re the Marelli distributors AMP, remove the screws and carefully lift the AMP away from the body, look for cracks in the insulation of the two wires where they exit the black sealant. I think that you will find that this is what "Default User" is referring to.

Rgds.

Hi Jon. Check the two wires going into the amp on the dizzy. They have a nasty habit of breaking right where they enter and can't be changed. They might be making and breaking contact intermittently.

I think I know exactly where you mean. Just by the plug? Similar is happening on the 1988 Sisley, the wire is changeable on that though (when I get around to it)

Don't worry about the unit, just use the force Jon:D

:ROFLMAO:

If only it were that easy
