I'm just dead excited about that tailgate being in such incredible condition for what the rest of the car looks like!! :eek And its already the right colour too lol!!

See ya soon!

Hi, glad the collection went smoothly.

I dont think I am going to be able to make tomorrow unfortunately, so I will probably visit next saturday if its ok your end as that leaves sunday incase we encounter any delays! Lots of rusty bolts etc.

Shame to hear about the tailgate though, it was hard to tell on the day to be honest. I knew there was a rust hole at the bottom of it but didnt look beyond repair. Is the dent a big one? What cant be pushed back out can allways be filled I supose.

Cheers,
Si

Cool thanks. I noticed its a front number plate on it. Would like a pic of that to do a few checks of spec etc.

Well, the mk 1 has been stripped of all parts worthy...

That panda rope trick was pure genious!! (y) It was so simple and easy to do and even better, panda powered!!!

To report on the final stint of the adventure (well most of it).... I drove fully laden with engine, gearbox, 4x4 system, driveshaft, billions of trim features and a heater matrix among rest, all the way down to Wiscombe hillclimb to watch a friend compete. That was about 40 mins from my parents house and up and down some really steep hills (where second gear was required at times ). Then it was a 2 hour drive from south devon to Gloucester to get the parts home!! I am absolutely amazed but the car cruized at a steady 85mph all the way home with the exception of the infamous steep hill on the M5 just before the avonmouth bridge where it slipped down to 68mph  I love my car so much!!! :slayer: 965cc's of pure awesomeness!!

All parts now packed into the garage, except engine gearbox and rear axle! I think i will be recruiting help for lifting them out at work tomorrow. Oh unsuspecting collegues!!!!

Anyway. Time for bed...I am bally knackered

Si signing off lol

Well, bringing this back up again guys as I have just calculated the mpg figures for the drive back with all those mk1 spares onboard.....32MPG at a steady 85mph hitting 90 mph at times. Incredible :slayer: And I've added a more thirsty jet to the carb as the rolling road tune said I was running lean up the high end.
