Hello all, Pandarus here back at last in an official Panda owner capacity!

Picked up my new CLX from deepest Cambridgeshire last night. On arrival, the seller tells me that the car belonged to the local lord and lady at the big house in the village! Sure enough, on the v5 there it was confirmed - previous owner was a lady something or other.

The car is in very good cosmetic order, touch of rust on the doors but other than that very nice indeed. It's a 94 CLX so it has roof bars, sunroof, plastic trim on doors and sides, clock, adjustable mirrors, gaiter console etc. Everything seems to work too. :u) It will not take too much effort to have a real 'minter'.

It's been about 2 years since I drove a Panda and I quickly remembered just what good fun they are to drive. It drove very well for the 70 miles home, in what were terrible conditions with the wind and rain. The clutch felt a little stiff and the brakes although working felt a bit unresponsive - and surprise surprise, I will also need to sort the hand brake!!! I will be looking at these problems very soon.

Due to her almost regal status, I have decided to call her 'Lady'. This seemed to fit very well.

I can't make the get together on the 27th June as I am on holiday, but we will be looking to catch up with you at other events!

Photos to follow very soon!!!

Cheers for now

MARTIN

I'm confused to why a Lord and Lady, would own a Panda:confused:

Maybe they got hit by the credit crunch and needed to make savings ;)

And why not have a Panda if you're a Lord or Lady? They've got 'chic' and classless charm, much like the classic Mini, and besides - "One's Bentley is hard to find parking for in city centres". :D

Car sounds like a great buy Martin - look forward to seeing pics of it :)

Thanks guys, it is good to be back!(y) Sorted my insurance today for £51 fully comp! I am an old fart though! Try moneysupermarket.com - I got a quote for £101 with £50 cashback. :)

Have done a bit of research. The Lord of the manor was an inventor / scientest (there are quite a few of them around in Cambridge apparently).

The car's full name is 'Lady Hazel' by the way. :D

Nice one!! Good to hear the quest has been resolved fruitfully!

Inventor/scientist eh?! A discerning type probably, no wonder he went for a Panda; probably told the other dons he bought it for her indoors and then snuck out in it for a laugh when she was diddling the gardener!! :D

Lady Hazel sounds just peachy, just make sure you treat her well, these upper class birds are high maintennance don't you know.....

Luke. (y)

Sounds like you've got a good one but remember those later boxes with the cable linkage usually have a much heavier clutch so you may just have to live with this:eek:

Jim

Never knew that. I'm just hoping my knee dosen't start playing up with the 'agricultural' clutch in the Sisley. Driving the mk3 for the last 5 weeks has been heaven

Thanks for that, Jim. I was going to start looking for a new clutch cable but might just hold back for now. It feels almost snagged after previous cars - I have WD40'd the connector to see if that makes a difference.

Had a good look at the car in daylight today and in the main, she's very good.

The bodywork is very good, few spots here and there

Doors are not bad, need to remove the surface rust and coat with the white hammerite i bought today

One of the driveshaft gaiters is leaking so that needs doing

Under the bonnet it just looks like nobody has been there for a while and it needs a service

One of the wheel trims is cracked and the front bumper is off

The car is generally very good it just needs cleaning from top to bottom and lots of tlc

I think it has the potential to be a very nice Panda - I am very busy this weekend so it is unlikely I will be able to get out there and spend some time getting her sorted(n)
