As long as the breaking strain is higher (x2 at least) than the weight of the car you should be OK

No problem. BTW when you ratchet the tyres on they should be like this. If they are not, they're not near tight enough.
One of my sgt's did this one up and nearly lost the 500 on a bend because they were no-where near tight enough and it was hanging onto the dolly on one wheel.
I learned my lesson and will NEVER let anyone load a car for me in future.

Sounds like an old offroading unwritten rule - YOU are responsible for attaching the towrope / tow strap to YOUR vehicle.

Spent £17 a piece on two 5 tonn Ratchet straps yesterday. Should do the job nicly!
