Hey Peeps!

After months of sourcing parts, considering options and blabbing on about what engine to put in, work has finally commenced on my Panda 4x4 project. Before you panic, I'm not out to mutilate a perfectly good 4x4. This car was ready for the scrappy!
This isn't so much a restoration project, more an attempt to make a 4x4 as good as possible for extreme off-road and touring.

The first major bit of news so far is I have a date with Surface Processing Ltd. for their full acid process :slayer:I can then make repairs and fully stitch-weld the chassis (CAA qualified TIG welder :D)

The propshaft is with Bailey Morris Ltd for reconditioning :)
Next up is recon Diff & Box :yum:

When you come to refit the gearbox, try to seal the bell housing as well as possible. If muddy water gets in there, mud packs itself into the pressure plate and stops the clutch from engaging. You really don't want the shame of being towed out of a mud hole by a Land Rover

Was only the later ones that were galvanised think post 91 (mk2b's) although I'm not sure on the date

That V8 one was being sold for £25,000 and only had the side panels and trim from a panda as it's about 1.5-2 foot wider than the panda

Seriously , I thought all mk2's were

I know the doors on the very last mk2's were galvinised were they not (late 94-95).

Mk2b's, are these basically the injection ones? As that's when the changes like the earthing hedgehogs started.

Hi Peeps

Gonna try and answer some Q's
My shell is definately NOT galvanised! Wish it was! lol

Firstly it's being stripped bare atm (if I can get the bloody rear hubs off!)
Then it's booked in with Surface Processing (www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk) for a full acid process, back to bare metal on the 5th Aug.
After that it's returning to my house for me to go at it with my TIG skills. It's going to be repaired (rust on the boot lip & front edge of the rear arches). After this I'm moving to MIG and stitch welding the entire chassis.
Once this is complete, I'm installing the OMP cage that's sat in the garage, and welding in reinforced seat stays. Using clicko's, I'm then drilling the chassis and temporarily mounting P-clips to hold the internal brake line and Lifeline Extinguisher system.
The Car's then going to a bodyshop I know to be primed with Epoxy 2-pack before it has a final spay with Camel 'Sandglow'.
All the parts will be restored by shot blast and stove enameling (another mate) before it's fully rebuild with an 1242 Spi engine. :slayer:

Shall I start a Blog??
