not a major job but i job that could have been avoided. they also have a habit of moving cars by fork lift im sure you can guess what that can do.

I would concider that major personally and would have been fuming!

And as for forklifts:rolleyes:(n)

Dad and I have always said then in the event of a accident with the Panda's resulting in the undriveable they're the be recovered straight back to home, not a scrap yard like some are automatically taken to. This will still apply if it happened 200 miles away! The only exception of course would be if the Poilce were to need it, say in the event of a fatality. We've decided to do things this way so we can get our bits out in the event of it being written off, but we've already decided to buy them back for spares if at all possible(y)

Insurance companies are swines. I remember when they tried to write off mum's Yaris. Dad hit black ice and spun it into a verge. They rang a few days later to say it was being collected and they were give £?????. When dad asked why, because they'd never even been to see it, they said 'we automatically write off cars which have been into ditches'. 'But it hasn't been anywhere near a ditch' dad said. 'O', said the person on the other end of the phone. 'I think you'd better send out an accessor hadn't you' dad replied:D

They really will try anything:mad:

Jon is quite right, they will try anything.

If anyone finds themselves in this situation and recovers the vehicle to their home address, do not keep it there unless under lock and key. Recent case in point in my locality.
Rgds.

The place it's at at the mo is not too bad. Tollerton Aerodrome - Richard you may know - it is in a big hangar so at least is under cover. Course, I can't guarantee that they won't abuse it. The insurers have already been told to keep their hands off, so fingers crossed.

I've got a chap going round tomorrow night to have a look at it and he's going to give me a report. Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to put it at our place unless it went back on the road. The 4x4 is in the garage (which is a tight fit in any case) and I don't want that to be next:(

Oh no! My thoughts are out there with you, I know how it feels to have your baby trashed. There are some sick people out there

I hope you get it all sorted at a fair price. I had similar damage caused when I had my crash and it cost £350 (if anyone remembers that had punctured the rad aswell and 3/4 of my spotlights!) That cost included buying my headlight guards too. Groovy metal ones!!. Not that they would help in an accident much! :p Shop around though and you'll be suprised how cheap repairs can be. (y)

Good luck with it all, I will keep an eye out and help out with parts if I can!
Cheers,
Si

You mean, garage it aswell? Are they likely to take it off your land when out:confused::eek:

Yes, thats what I mean.

Garage, or at the rear of the property or blocked in by other vehicles. In this case they were using the winch from the truck to try to drag the vehicle backwards out of a private drive at 21.14hrs in the evening.

Rgds.

yes there has been quite a few cases of cars being removed due to the high price of scrap at the moment too. After what happend to my dads seicento which im sure most of you will remember i have put my cinq on an agreed value policy if its written off i get £1500 no questions and get to keep the salvage obviously this cost a little more. alot of firms now take the salvage we once had a maestro at work that was gutted by fire from bumper to bumper but the insurance company sent a lorry on a 300 mile trip to fetch it i asked the driver why and he said the company (direct line) fetched every car in regardless of condition he thought it was silly too.
I was lucky with my dads car they paid him a pathetic £500 for a mint grey sei sporting:mad: but they did let us buy it back for £90 it cost me £700 to repair it ( thugs rolled it onto its side so it needed all the o/s panals + glass + paint) so with the payout he had to put £300 to it to get his car on the road again and at the time good sei's where fetching £1500+
print out some ebay pages of pandas in the same condition to prove what they are fetching because they will probably say its worth book value and offer you peanuts.

Eek, worrying as two guys approached my mom while she was in the yard just the other night asking if the car was hers and wondering if they could buy it for scrap! She just told them NO its my daughters and she loves her car :p not willing to part with it!

Wish best of luck for the purple panda! and none for those who wrecked it

Yeah I know! What they said they wanted it for, but I think they were just a couple of shyster's wanting to buy it for next to nothing to resell. (n)

Park it well locked up and pref. with another car in front They are fetching £1 50 + scrap value. The ronkers are haveing a field day if the are not nicking road gulley, they have yer car. Scrap steel is still very high in value.

, I remember the pics, and it was mint! How did they get away with that? Makes me sick, especially when you think of how much money they get out of us.

I've heard the theift of old car's in general has gone up because they're worth loads for scrap and easy to nick:mad: I hope it never happens to any of us on here. I have an alarm in My Selecta and 750L, and soon to be one in the new Selecta. Who else has an alarm?

The shell of the donor 750L is going soon. I'm going to get a company to collect it from home, so should I be looking for any money for it, or just glad that they're taking it away for free?

It's the metal that's worth the money, if it's already a shell it's even easier for them, I expect there are people out there who will pay and collect.

Yea, most the bits that needed/forseeably needed removed. Only thing in there is uphostry (might remove) and engine/gearbox. Only fluid is g/box oil, and about £2 of fuel in tank.

We were going to be please if it were taken away for nothing, but if there is money to be had:yum:

Might aswell try and get something for it, I assume there's no tyres left on it as a lot of car disposal/breakers will charge around £2+ per tyre disposal fee.

It's a goner:(

I've had a bloke assess it and the damage would cost a fortune to put right. It has shifted at the front and the O/S suspension has been pushed back. The A pillar would need to be replaced. All in all I have to face it that it's gone. I could ask for a second opinion but in my heart I know it would be a waste of time.

My main problem now is that I would like to buy it off the insurers and strip it down but I don't think I have anywhere suitable to put it so I may end up losing everything. The O/S door is creased and useless but it has a good nearside and of course a very nice colour interior and an engine that has not missed a beat for over a year. I'm going to have to sleep on this now. If I can't find somewhere to put it, maybe someone on here who lives near by would like to come to an arrangement?

Absolutely Gutted
