General brake fade after bleeding

Hope one of you Panda experts can point me in the right direction here before I set fire to Juppy:bang:

Just fitted new master cylinder (servo type), rear wheel cylinders and new pipes at the rear. Bled the brakes until all the air is out. Good pint and a half bled through to make sure.

The pedal is hard-ish when the car is switched off but once I start the car the pedal more or less goes to the floor and the brakes are pretty poor when stopping.
Also, and I don't know if it's related, when the car is idling and I put my foot on the brake, the engine stutters and amost dies.

I'm at a bit of a loss. Any ideas ?

Think the engine dying is unrelated :idea: Although the servo is attached to the manifold could there be a leak somewhere or the servo is moving when you press the brake?

Re the foot to the floor sorry mate but I still think you have air in there somewhere, I take it you did do all 4 pipes? Or is there a leak on one of the pipe connections?

I don't want to be rude Alan as you know way more than me about servo brakes, but it seems a large conincodence that the engine dies/stutters when the brake pedal is pressed.

Checked and double checked Alan, no leaks. Did the usual way, start at the furthest away point from the bottle.
My thinking is the servos going now, but trying hard not to believe that it would go after failing an Mot on one silly wheel cylinder.
I'll bleed them through tomorrow again in the hope there's more air to be found.

Knackered servo won't make the pedal go to the floor Stu, more chance of it being difficult to move as you don't have the extra pressure assistance.

I can only think it's air mate as brake fluid can't be compressed OR :idea: the front brake hoses are expanding?

I'd be surprised if your stalling wasn't somehow connected to a leak in the servo/inlet manifold arrangement, working on the assumption that these events are nearly always connected with previous work, I suppose there's a faint chance you could have an electrical fault caused by disturbing the brake fluid warning connections. Persevere though, brake bleeding can be a complete pain in the arse, I've given up before now only to find that air bubbles have settled out overnight and the damn things have worked the next day!
