Hi Folks. I have a very nice '88 Panda 4x4 Sisley, which has decided it would be a good idea to let water into the driver's footwell.

I can't find a thread answering this, so apologies if it's a common question. Has anyone any ideas exactly where this is likely to be coming from (and how to cure it) please?

The water is mainly dripping from the bottom of the fuses in the footwell (so if the electrics start playing up at least I know where to look!! ). I can't see that the drainage holes under the windscreen (under the 2 plastic grilles) are blocked, but it was a bit cold & wet today to investigate fully! Is there somewhere under there that water collects?

The windscreen rubber doesn't appear to be lifted, but is that another likely candidate?

If it helps the water is dripping in when the car's stood, so it's not a result of ambitious navigating of streams etc.......

Many thanks in advance.

Hi ya. Good evening and welcome !

Have you checked the 2 pipes under the bonnet. One under spare wheel n one on the other side, sort of hanging loose. They look like black washing machine pipes with pointed caps on the end. Take the caps out and no doubt there will be half the countryside, dead leaves etc blocking the small slit in the end. Clean the crud out and push back on the pipes. Am no expert but this may help ??

Also, did you leave the 'under window' vents in the open position. If your weather is anything like here then the rain could be getting blown in?

Worth a try n will only take a couple of minutes.

If not I am sure the fountain of knowledge that is on the 'Classic Panda' part of FF will know the anwer.

Hi there,

I had similar troubles, but I hope that you dont have the same problem as i did, best check beneath the windscreen rubber I think....

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately my windscreen surround isn't that bad, but haven't been able to track down the source of the leak yet. I tried closing the vents but no luck.

The weather's got worse & so has the leak, so if anyone has further ideas please let me know!!

Many thanks.

, thats awful. Did you sort it? How? I wouldn't know where to start, lol.

It could be the door leaking if the rubbers aren't meeting well, but you would have probably noticed this already if it is.

Jon.

Yeah, I had it welded up. Was a huge job to do though even after it had all been reconstructed.

I reckon its the door aswell if not coming from the "beneath window" region. Isnt much else where water can come in through while the car is standing. If its coming in when the car is driving i would say its a hole in the floor under the carpet or something. But then the water would drain out and so wouldnt collect... This is a bit of a mystery to me i must say. I'll keep thinking on it anyway. Standing water in a panda is not a good thing at all!!

Hope you track down the source

Cheers,
Si

PS you have a sweet sisley btw (y)

Palio, Juppy's doing the same thing I noticed when I washed him. Is the dash covering below the vent on the drivers side damp on your car ? It is on mine and once soaked enough lets the water drip just above the fuse holder then onto the floor.
I'm confused by it as I replaced the screen ages ago and have washed the car plenty of times since and this is the first time it's did it. I have a feeling the vent is leting the water in.

Oh and park your car facing down hill to see if it stops. :D

If I get to the bottom of my leak I'll let you know.

Mine's exactly the same as Juppy! And it's the same facing up or downhill - odd! Just can't work out where the water's coming from, but there's quite a lot of it.

Thanks for the ideas so far - keep them coming please.
