Hello
I've just bought tacho rev counter on ebay. Unfortunatelly I've got Panda with two Ignition Coil. My gauge's got only 3,4,6 cyl. option.
I tried connect to "-" on first coil cable and it's works but there is only half of right reading :(
Maybe somebody know how to connect it in this type of engine...I've checked CC/SC Uno forums and they said that pin 23 on ECU but maybe somebody tried to do this in Panda...?
Engine Fire 93-> 1.1 (but is't same like 1.0:)

I think that pin 23 is only solution for your Panda. You can try to use one of connection pins, from fuel pump-safety switch = in cabin, down, near left drivers leg (under plastic cover). I think that one of safety switch pins -should be wiered directly to ECU - pin 23, so it is easiest to use this contact then to make something wrong directly on ECU.

Hi,
Yes, I've heard about connection to fuel pump relay (I think it's pin 85) but I wasn't sure where is it in Panda, I used to use Pandas with card:) I try with it, I also don't want to broke ECU:)

Hi again, I think that we do not understand well?
Any case (left or right side steering weel Panda) on the left side in passanger cabin of your Panda there is plastic covered Protected)``Panic fuel pump-interrupt-switch`` near the left sitting driver (or co-driver). This switch has to interrupt fuel pump in case of strong punch to the wehicle. That ``Panic switch has two connectors, and one of this is connected to Pin 23 of ECU by wire. It is easiest to get signal for Tacho, from that point (wire-connector) than to open ECU and find pin 23.
I hope you do understand me.

Hi
I also like to fit a rev couther but I don'y know wher to put it.

Where have you put yours?

thanks
Ill try to help, but it is very different from type to type of Panda, (with one or two coils, with or without ECU, etc)
It also diferent from type to type of Rev Counter, is it initially constructed for 2,4,6, 8 or 12 cylinders, or for one or two ignition coils?

I haven't bought anything yet (so some advive what to look for is welkome) because I don't know were to fit the gauce on the pannel.

Mine has the 1108 FIRE and is 1997 model

Probably you've got also twin coil so it's the same problem like I've got:(
Before you buy anything make sure that it's suitable for 2 cyl. cars or that seller has got manual how to connect it this type of engines (twin coil system)

To "aca" - now I know what you mean:) I've got it on N/S (UK Panda-RHS)
I'll try connect it and if with succes I'll let you know:)
Regards

These days here in Panda Classic Club in Belgrade, some members have to test some internal - freak made- electronic, multifunctional gadget, specially constructed for Panda Classic 1108 FIRE, with 2 ignition coils and MPI, ECU, produced from 2000 - 2003.

It is constructed with 3-digit- digital display (either green or red color) and it shows engine temperature (external engine NTC resistor), external envoiroment temperature, rev-counter, and battery voltage. Also they have possibility for sound - alarm if some value has critical min or max (temp, or voltage). For example if outdoor temp is equal or below 4 Celsius, sound alarm will beep 5 time-shortly to announce possible ice on road.
Display value can be predefined, or they will display -for few seconds - each of separate value, continuously as a slide show (each indicated by adequate led diode)
Engine temp is measured by external NTC easy to fit -resistor, mounted at any appropriate place, and alarm could be set at the range between -30 to 130 degrees of Celsius. If value reach, for example engine-temp. equal or more than 95 deg. than alarm sounds countiniously, until temperature drops below this value.
Rev-counter is displayed x00 (in hundreds)
Measuring error of all values on this gadget is less than 1.5 %
Gadget is powered with standard 12V Accu.
It could be fitted on 2,3,4 or 12 cylinders engine, and on 1 or two ignition coil
concepts.
Ex works price is 30 EURO
All cables, connectors, two resistor and instruction included.
See attached pic.
Freaky isnt it?
Design is not his adventage, but his function, dimension and self mountage possibility - could pass on Panda Spartan look?

I can help!

I've got a 1993 1.1 Selecta with the twin coil packs, and had same problem when wanting to fit a techo meter back last year.

I'm luck enough to have a Fiat Dealership Manual, with the Wireing diagrams saying what pins on the ECU do what.

It is pin 23 with you need to connect to. Please see attached pic to find out how the pin numbers work. Bear in mind that the ECU is mounted up-side down under the cloth dash.

What I done to wire my tacho meter in was,
1. Remove ECU wiring loom. (don't need to remove the ECU)
2. Have the signal wire for the tacho meter with a frayed end.
3. Feed this into the ECU where pin 23 is.
4. Whalst holding this wire in place, re-place the ECU wiring loom to the ECU.

This sounds difficult but is really easy! You'll understand what I'm saying more if you print this off, and read it whalst doing it.

I've not had any problems with my tacho wiring it this way.

I wouldn't suggest trying to cut into the ECU wiring loom to fit the signal wire to the wiring loom, because if you muck up you will render you Panda useless unless its all rewired! This would be costly and timely!

Hope it helps, let me know how you get on. Jon.

What an impressive little manual to have. Did you steal it, borrow it or buy it?:D I had the same thing for the 126Bis. I was buddies with the main dealer parts man and borrowed it overnight and photocopied. Took hours!

I brought it off of eBay for £10! Best buy I've made on there, appart from my Panda Selecta, lol.

I think it might have gone walkies from a dealership one night!

I don't normally bother with the Haynes manual anymore.

Superb video. (y) The wonders of modern technology. Well done fella.

:D Actually, it reminded me a bit of an 80's porn movie. Expected a scantily clad, Scandinavian speaking, female AA patrol person to turn up at any time and ask you if you wanted a hand with your loom! ;)

Good effort though. That linking to youtube could be handy for many simple demos. Think you're on to something there....:p

Many thanks. Took longer for the computer to upload it to youtube than it did for me to make the video:D

Thanks Most Easterly Panda's YOU ARE GENIUS!!

This diagram is almost imposible to get! Have any more diagrams about ECU in Panda 1.0-1.1?? It would be great if you can sent something for me...my email (will send on PM)

Thanks AGAIN - tomorrow I'm going to fit it:)

Regards
Jakub

BTW
Great movie, is your r.p.m. not too high? I thought that on idle it shoudl be around 800....is it all the time or just when engine is cold?

Hi

I just fited the rev counter but it doesn't work!

I connected the ecu pin 23 but I didn't try connecting to the coil since I have two as well.
Does anyone know what kind of signal I must have on 23? Is it possible that the rev counter works with diferent signal than the one on 23? Or it's just broken?
