Hello to one and all!

Just got my first Panda, it's a 4x4 1988 model. Lovely little thing it is indeed.

A few things I'd like a bit of help on. I believe the syncro is going on 3rd and possibly second gear. Does anybody know if it is a big/expensive job to get this sorted? My diagnosis may be a little astray so it is possible that it is the clutch, hard to say.

I hear they are generally hard to come by but does anybody know the whereabouts of a 4x4 gear box for my Panda that I can purchase?

And as a final note, if anybody has any information/ advice for me as a first time owner I'd much appreciate it.

Cheers!

Hay, i get to say 'Welcome to the Forum' for the first time! Anyway, it's a bit of an 'They all do that' and it probably will run for another million miles before it gives you any more bother than the 'crunch' of changing gear. Make sure there's plent of oil in it and take it easy on the changes.

Other than that, just don't let it rust! lol:D

Welcome,
Third is the gear that always goes first I'm afraid.
The Freak 'crunches' like hell ... so much so that I usually only use 2,4 & 5, unless I'm somewhere where I have to use 1st:D ... love that !
I am lucky enough to have a replacement gearbox (NO! you can't!) which I am very slowly rebuilding.
Change gear slowly and, if you know how to, double de-clutch as often as possible. It could last for years. Trust me:D

As Jim says, first thing to do is to check the transmission oil level. There may be very little in there. The cv boots are a bit of a problem on the 4x4 in my experience. When I first got mine I topped it up and it immediately p**sed out behind the boot.
