Hi all, Planning to do a full service on the Selecta soon, and want to change the gearbox oil.

The Fiat dealership service manual and Haynes suggest using CVT gear box oil, fair enough, but I can't find any of the stuff for love of money.

I've been recomended to try and find out what oil viscosity it is and see if I can get some using the viscosity as a guide.

I've tried Halford and Rapid Part (not sure if they're just a regional company to my county) and they haven't got any, and nor are they able to get it.

Would normal Automatic gearbox fluid / oil be good enough, I personally think not because of the fact that a CVT gearbox works very differently to a conventional automatic. And the last thing I want to do is buggar the gear box up.

Many thanks, Jon.

Choose a good quality " Dextron 3 " Automatic Transmission Fluid ( ATF )

There is also a filter in the sump and you may require a new sump gasket. See the Eper for details.

Empty via drain plug in sump, refill ( slowly ) via dipsick tube.

Level should be checked with engine running at tickover, whilst at normal operating temperature, with lever in " Park "

Rgds, Petel

Before I bought Selecta I spoke with friend from Fiat Panda Club in Poland. He use Selecta for long time and he said that it's very important to use oli for CVT gearbox. It must be good with higher temp. then normal automatic gearbox. He said that Nissan's got similat gearbox and they also got some type of oils...but I don't know which one is good in UK's shops...
Generally - oil is very important, then filter and clean job!! Before start chenging oil and filter you must be sure that everything around is clean without dust and sand...:)
