I am thinking of making a Ram Scoop in my bumper too, but I am thinking of using a bit more of a funnel shape than the assembly shown in the 'unofficial top-speed' thread. I think I might need to use a grille though

my advice.. don't bother! I fitted one and it made no difference. All i have done is created a hole that water can potentially get sucked through if i'm on a motorway with lots of spray. I'd like to brag it made a difference but i tested my car on a bypass near my house.. exact same performance [V]

I don't know if this is of any use to you, but:
On our 4x4's we take the air intake hose from the air intake UP through the cold intake on th offside of the bonnet, through a rigid pipe alongside the windscreen and capped with a rainshield at roof level. This very effectively stops road dust and water and may be suitable for your purposes, although you will probably have to streamline it in someway for speed.

HHmmmmmmm

hey. i have an even better idea which means a bit more work and you'll be cold, but you could always get hold of a vent and take the air through that. Just an idea. Personally i see there being no point as you may get more air to it but that means you need more petrol ....and if you have more petrol and the car is in traffic/ idleing she'll be running rich.I think im right in saying that.

hope i helped, rich

I have a fuel injection panda.. i think the ecu sorts the mixture out so might not be a problem on a 1992 or above panda? Even so.. sounds like a lot of messing around for very little extra [V]

AFAIK there are limits (which I don't know the values of) which an ECU can adjust/correct for.
If you stray outside the expected parameters you're likely to get into "limp home mode".
As a consequence, it will go, but not very well.

You are spot-on John H. Tune them just a tiny bit too far and it really will all go pear-shaped.Just enough ooommph to get you home.....slowly.:(.
Rip it all out and fit a standard 'fire' ... then you can do what you like, without an interfearing computer !

HHmmmmmmm

ecu problems in panda? nahh.. its just about the only part of the electrics fiat got reliable in those cars.. the injection systems just about the only part in my car that i never had problems with.. (my altinator broke tonight [V]) grr!!!

Mine's an '88 Fire so the only computer in it is my 'phone! I will be putting some GT stripes on soon and found some interesting badges at www.abarthbadges.com or thereabouts

Hi Twamgle...Yes, I too have discovered how fast a sticker or two from Abarth can make my car seem.
