I'm thinking of taking the cinq alloys off Sylvia (they're 155/70 x 13) and fitting some steel standard panda wheels for the winter with mud and snow tires.

Now I know feck all about this so what size should I go for as I'd like a high a side wall as possible to give me more ground clearance and a nice soft ridebut as she's not a 4x4 I'll not be able to fit the colways like Alan has (I think?)

Just I don't have a 4x4 anymore and its starting to get cold.... Brrrr!

Oh and don't worry about the speedo over/under reading as it's miles out already (just like most pandas, lol) and I've got used to the GPS giving me an idea of what speed I'm really doing.

The standard 4x4 tyres are 145/80s and I have some M+S tyres of that size on mine. They're not real chunkies like the Coleways but I've been pleased with them 'on road'. It may be that 145/80 won't fit on a 2x4 though. I would have a play with the tyre specs on My Tyres and that will give an idea of what's available.

Well, that's them ordered and on the adivce of WeeSmurf it's Continental WinterContact TS 780 145/70 R13 at about 30 quid each.

Yeah, I chickened out on the 80's profile and took it down to 70's. Was worried about my flaps getting caught and torn off!
(As Stuart went to a lot of trouble to get me period dealer ones)

Didn't know I had been giving advice... :p Where did you order them from?

Must change my wheels over at the weekend... and give the alloys a good clean and put them away till around Easter time...

Remember you text'd me? I looked them up and you were right they did come out well in tests so I ordered a set off mytyres.com as no one local got back to me when I phoned them..... :(

Last year I actually drove into a number of tyre dealer places and when I asked for Winter tyres, I got that "Is that horns growing out of your head" type look...:(
They really don't want to sell you Winter tyres in Northern Ireland... I almost ended up ordering off mytyres too...

Only one place took my request seriously so they got my business,,,

Mr Bump had 185/70s M&S on! they were wicked fun - but you had to remove your inner wheel arch liners before the tyres did! I did 20k on them! and that was baout half their life I reckon

Jim did you get your tyres delivered yet?

Dez now has his winter shoes on... 2 alloys nicely cleaned, 2 to go...

Yeah, they got delivered during the week to work and I bunged the local fitting place 20 quid to stick them on.... Total worked out at 160 including delivery, fitting and balancing.

She looks very weedy without her alloys thou but the grip on them wet, muddy country lanes while Christmas tree hunting is fantastic!

Jim

Good price... Mine were my Christmas pressie last year, so I didn't pay for mine at all... :p

I miss my alloys too... But I prefer the extra grip I get on the muddy mountain road... Bit safer with the baby in the back...
