Hi again,
As a long-term 'wildyouth' of the 60's, I really can't believe that I'm writing this !!!
However; I love the look of 'Piglet's' 4x4...but the 'look' comes at a cost. As soon as you attack your road-tyres with a chisel you can kiss your insurance goodbye. Sorry.
If you are going for the 'butch' look, search around for cheap(ish) remould snow tyres. Generally speaking, the cheaper the tyre- the softer the rubber compound. The softer the rubber compound- the thicker the tread.
Some of the imported re-moulds have outlandish treads and...as long as you don't intend to go much over 50 will be fine for a couple of years..........but on good road surfaces you can almost see them wearing down.
It's all just one of life's compromises...........[8D]

Very true on the cut tyre front! I transport it on a trailer.

I did see some VERY interesting tyres at the weekend 27x10x12 road legal (on a quad)tyres, are there any 12" rims in the Fiat range?

12" wheels in the Fiat range ?...I'm doubtfull, but..my only interest is in the 4x4 range.
I'll check tomorrow...

(Some of thse AIXAM alloys look interesting...............)[}:)]
