hello,

Does anyone have any idea about the wiring for the radio in a panda. I've connected the speakers and the big black one, which i think is ground, but i've got 3 wires coming from the stereo (yellow, red and white) and 4 from the car (2 black and 2 green/red striped)!

If it helps the yellow is marked on the stereo as "backup", the red "+12v" and the white as "power antenna"

yellow should have 12v constant, red can be constan or ignition live depending on whether you want to switch of manually or with the engine and the white you dont need as its for electric ariel.you really need to test the cables in the car.have you used your own speaker wiring and not the standard wiring?

Hey Ross,

Just a little advice. My boyfriend tried to wire in my stereo and managed to nearly kill himself aparently they are a really old styly of wiring so I just paid £30 to get it done profesionally and had no probs since!

Thats just some advice?

Sorry I know it doesn't help!:p

Go on live dangerously! Wire as per instructions above!

If your stereo has a ISO style connector (rectangular block) that can make things easier since you will be able to have the stereo either on your lap or on the passenger seat with the wiring diagram facing you.

BTW the ISO block may still be attached to the radio - look for a little tab you can lever with a screwdriver to take it off. Most modern(ish) have an ISO connector.

Then it's a case of wiring up up the connector in situ, which is a lot easier than trying to balance a radio on your lap at the same time. When done, the radio is just plugged in.

Either way just match up the wires to the appropriate 'socket' on back of the radio//connector.

The ISO standard also means in theory that changing radios in the future is a lot easier - you just unplug then plug.

Only problem is that the wires tend to be very brittle from age and so may break/split with rough treatment. This can cause shorts/bad earthing -- I wouldn't worry about dying.

Regards,

Martin

Fix It Again Tony!

I fitted a really good Blaupunkt stereo system to my wife's Panda...following the wiring diagrams.
She now has really dodgy mono sound.........ah well.........

The only rider to that would be remove rings and other metalwork affixed to your person when working on the battery (or anything connected to it which is unfused).

There are a number of people who have lost a finger that way.

Trivial voltage, but several hundred amps available...B)

hello again,

im sure ive got the speakers right, i can see the wire and follow it to the speaker.

theres no iso connectors its all wires, does anyone know what to connect the red and yellow wires to? the choice is 2 black wires and two red/green striped. the stereo definitely says red is +12v

cheers!

when i put my stereo in i wired it up as per the color code on the back of the packet. Then when it did not work i was just about to give up when one of the wires touched the back of the fag lighter and sent a spark accross it, that will be the 12v live then! after that it was plain sailing. Started with a fiat to ford wiring loom and fitted a ford unit. Then i was given a song active black 10 disc changer fitting a ford to iso loom and it works fine just that you have to turn the stero off as it won`t go off with the car oh well.

Red/green striped is +12v always live (irrespective of ignition switch position).

You might find your yellow lead is for fascia illumination on the radio - which you'd expect to come on with the lights - you'll need to find yellow/black striped on the Panda if that's what your yellow lead is for.

The black leads on the Panda are earth.

so if i connect the red to a red/green and the yellow to a black?

Ive got some 8 inch pioneers so ive got the speakers sorted!

well on ine i had to made a wire from the heater as a non permant live. So you want the red wire from the car to go to the yellow, the blak wire from the car to go to the ground an the non permant live wants to go to the yellow wire, then you should be ok

laters rich

P.S I'd disconnect the battery first
