Following a chat with Jim last week I'm seriously considering fitting an 1108cc engine and gear box into Splutter. I know that people have fitted various engines into Pandas. Does anyone know if this has been done and what sort of work would be involved in terms of making it fit with engine mounts, etc.

As Splutter has a 750 FIRE engine, the 1108cc should fit straight on to the existing engine mounts. I'm assuming as well that the 999cc Panda gearbox is physically the same as the 750's (ratios might be different), so as long as you use a 999cc Panda manual box all should bolt up and connect as needed. I'd be fairly sure that the 750 driveshafts/ hubs are also the same.

Only problem I can foresee is that the 750 exhaust manifold/ downpipe might not be suitable. If the stroke of the 750 is a lot shorter than the 1108cc engine then the downpipe won't be long enough. Solution would be to use the manifold/ downpipe from a 999cc or 1108cc Panda.

All in it should be a fairly simple swap

Negligable I would have thought - one or two 1108 bits would be needed going off a 1242 Cento swap. The only sticky point might be the fuelling...is the 750 head the same as the other FIRE heads?

You could get a carbed 1108 Panda lump and put the 1242 block in with the associated bits required for a 1242 (lengthened exhaust manifold, etc.) and do it that way Shouldn't be too problematic I would have thought...
