Handbrake light keeps comin on & off...in Fiat Palio 1.2 even if its on the move with handbrakes completely down. Check the handbrake switch seems to be ok.

Temperature needle stays a little above the half mark n comes down marginally after fan starts.
You think the problems are inter related? Kindly suggest! Thank you.

Have you checked the brake fluid level iirc the light is also an indication of low fluid level or a faulty brake servo if in doubt get it checked by a garage.

the engine temperature is bound to drop once the cooling fan kicks in..

I have a similar problem with my Petra (also known as Siena). The workshop tells me I need to replace the brake booster since there is a very slow leak of brake oil. With my very limited technical knowledge of autos I am trying to validate if it is required. Is there a situation the booster needs replacement to plug a leak ? I thought booster is used to magnify the force applied to master cylinder. Can any one explain ?

Sorry if this is an irrelevant post. I thought Palio and Petra have quite a few things in common.

thanks in advance.

Re: Handbrake Light stays on - Fiat Palio - Problem Resolved!

Thank you all for your responses.

Problem is now resolved. Heres wot it was all about...

My brake fluid had droped below mininmum. There was also a small leak in the brake cylinder. All these factors combined bought my clutch to go absolutely loose and no gear shift could take place further.

Toped up the brake fluid. Got a new cylinder. No Leak. Danger light gone.

The temperature gauage still seems to eventually climb up little above the half mark. any idea? Coolant is at optium levels.

thanks n cheers!

Agreed. The temperature will drop once the fan starts.
But the issue here is - why is the temp needle going up liitle over the half mark?
isnt the needle suppose to stay a little below or at half mark in normal cases?

refer above post of mine...same query.

thanxs.

I am waiting for the booster/ cylinder part to arrive from Fiat head office. Can you tell me how much did the replacement part cost you ? I suspect it is taking too long for me to get the part.
