i just had my mechanic work my engine (skimming cylinder head, changed head gasket...etc) and now there's a weird hissing/grinding noise coming from the engine (like two soft metal plates grinding against each other), i changed the oil and the noise still won't go, and bit later after changing the oil i noticed the car slightly overheating from the temp gauge, i parked it and looked under the car to notice a small pool of coolant (it appears to be coming from the engine not the radiator), but the coolant level is around the MIN mark so it's not empty. is it a failed water pump?

it's a FIAT Palio 1.3 FIRE (a **** car).

Could you upload all the pictures/photos pertaining the problem?
It may help in understanding the issue.

Does the car loses coolant during operation or when it's turned off, I think it's the water pump, because it is really suspected, losing coolant, engine overheats, bad noise, does the noise sounds like garden cockroaches ? Btw your car is great, it's not **** car :) maybe you bought it used or the car didn't receive the care it needs, mate, when this happened to us in our VW we used to check and fill water in the car before every trip. It was so annoying but we succeeded protecting the car till we replaced the pump, please don't drive with low coolant and fix this ASAP, our situation was easier I think we were losing small amounts after returning from our trip but your car seems to be losing a lot since overheating occurs or you don't fill for compensation of coolant

If car is leaking coolant from overflow it means cylinder head gasket is leaking. Either bad cylinder head skim job, or bad cylinder head / gasket fit job by mechanic or fine hairline crack on side of cylinder head or engine block.

If you continue to drive car like this, monitor temp gauge when idling in traffic, moment temp gauge goes between 1/2 and 3/4, park car on yellow line / pavement next to road to cool off, else blown headgasket.

That's why it's best to take car to company that specializes in engine overhauls / cylinder heads, not your average mechanic.
