My 2001 Fiat Palio 1.6 EL 16 V had blown it cylinder head gasket. After all the normal repairs and assembly of the head and all other once the palio is started up it starts with the engine immidiately going running into high revs asif the accelerator is stuck. Can any member please assist in giving advise as to where I must start searching for the problem? And how it can be fixed?
Thanking you in advance

Until model year 2000, the IAC valve ( Idle Air Control) was a seperate device, easy to replace when stuck or broken.
After MY 2001, the IAC is part of the throttlebody.
Find out what version you have, and either replace the IAC, or clean the inside of the throttlebody with carburetor cleaner spray.

I took your advise and found that the palio has a throttle bottle which I cleaned with carb cleaner. Unfortunately the car is still from starting gaining excessive reving witch further results in the palio's engine to stutter and misses making the entire engine run unsmoothly. In my ignorance could this be coming from a faulty sensor on the Palio? Prior the head gasket blowing all sensors appeared to have been working because the palio was running smoothly. Is there anaything else you can kindly advise I do (explore) to try and remedy the problem. I will really appreciate your further guidance

i had the same problem few years ago after having a dead battery for few days once the battery was replaced and the car started it would rev madly but it would stabilize after 10 15 second, i think the computer memory is learning all the parameter

I had that problem awhile ago, i found that when you take off the throttle body and have a look at the gasket, on your left hand side if your looking down at your throttle body there should only be a hole in the gasket that is as big as a pinhole which allows air in, if that hole is too big in the gasket then your revs also climb up too about 2200 RPM.
