Technical Help with my fiat palio 1.2_ed....south africa

Hello guys.
I an new to this forum so please bare with me,I an have a fiat palio 1.2_ed its been around for sometime and has been giving problem and the mechanics around where I live do not seem to know their way around it and I struggle to get parts for it even in local spare shop,I must mention I ive in south africa,in cape town so my first question is where can I get someone who really knows thier way around a palio because I need my engine done from scratch because its dripping oil all over the place,it seems to burning oil,its iddling is terrible,lifters are making ticking noise this despite the fact that I had the cylinder head done when it blew the gasket,and lastly its iddlling goes up and down if I drive in the morning,also if it has just been fixed and I start the engine,it would iddle up and down for a while and someone said something about an idling sensor and that my ecu is faulty this has been a problem for years and every machanic I go to does q terrible job,lastly it seems to be heavy on fuel also....forgive me for this long post I just need help,someone who can properly know the issues and be able to fix them once and for all,the engine is just full of faults,if anyi can assist me id be very happy,I must mention I am a student so I do not have much but I am desperate for assistance,if something is not clear feel free to ask.

Is there a chance you get rid of this car ? sell it and buy a car that does not give much trouble ?
Here in INDIA fiats have a terrible reputation cause the mechs have no idea what to do, since its electronic and the mechs are mostly illiterate,
Service stations are looting stations, an authorized service station will quote you 3 times the price of your car for fixing all the issues you highlighted above,
Students here in INDIA buy Suzuki cars, they are the most reliable and easily repairable cars,(carb and mpfi versions)
Have you thought about selling this car and moving on ?
Unless you really want to hold on to this car I recommend you think about getting a car that’s trouble free.
This is my suggestion and am hoping you will not mind,
I bought a fiat palio 1.6 GTX and yes she is a beauty but with few niggles , I am happy to work on them and feel good once am able to fix them , but yes I cannot trust my palio for any long journey as I fear it will break down ,
Hence I have a second car , good old reliable Suzuki , carb version even a mechanic under a shade tree can repair it with few tools ,

It sounds as though the replacement cylinder head and lifters hasn't cured what may have been the original fault ..

.. you say that your car is leaking and burning oil. That tends to suggest a worn engine .. the pistons/bores .. and no amount of cylinder head work is going to fix that fault.

Start your engine and then remove the oil filler cap - are fumes 'chugging' out in beat with the engine? Remove the oil dipstick - are fumes blowing out of that..?

If so, that's a sign of a worn engine. Exhaust gases are finding their way past the piston rings and pressurising the crankcase. That excess pressure has to escape somewhere - usually via the oil filler cap, the dipstick .. or anywhere it can ... maybe the reason why you also have oil leaks. If oil is finding its way onto the plugs that can cause a misfire.

A compression test will tell you what condition the engine is.

Thanks for the reply man,yes I do want to sell the car but at this moment even if I sell it,ii won't be worth much and anything I get out of it will not be enough for me to buy a decent car hence its not an option at this moment,hopefully next year I can start working since I am finishing of my studies this year and can get a better car.yes you are right mechanic here also struggle with the car,they seem to have no idea how to fix it hence iv decided il never buy a fiat car again.

Thanks for the reply,yes the are fumes coming out the oil cap,will engine rings and barrings solves the problem?I am thinking for doing that.

Replacement piston rings and big end bearings will only be a very temporary answer.

When an engine becomes too worn the only solution is a rebore with new pistons .. and maybe a crankshift regrind and new bearings.

It's a lot of work which doesn't come cheap. It would be quicker -and cheaper - to change the engine for a decent second hand unit

Well that does not seem like an option for me,I did see another motor online,but it was way to expensive.il just replace the rings and barring,redo my cylinder head and hope for the best,buying a second hand motor here its expensive not to mention the labour for the mechanic will be also expensive so its not worth spending so much money in a old car.I hope its not too worn out,I do use it everyday and despite its condition it drive me from A to B everyday,I just have to monitor my oil nd keep putting some more oil,and the not so nice idling which sounds like a barring knock nd lifter noise,but other than that it drive very well...as for the fumes its odd because no smoke is coming out the exhaust pipe...but small fumes on the oil cap.
