I have Fiat Palio 1.2 ELX - 2002 model.

From last few months I am facing problem of car overheating when I just drive about 3-4 Km.

Heat meter gets over 50% mark in 2 KM, and gradually moves to 75% mark AND then A/C goes Off.... everyone in car suffers ... its so embarrassing.

Important: When I accelerate with little more pressure, the heat meter comes down in 10-12 secs below HALF-MARK (50%)..... A/C Starts normally.... then again in few mins, after running normally it gets overheat and A/C shuts.

Showed to mechanic... He has changed coolant.... checked and cleaned radiator ..... checked valve which injects water inside engine.... but no luck....

I am staying in Mumbai, India.

I really need solution for this, friends please help!!!

Check if high speed fan is getting engaged or not

Fan is dual speed

Where in mumbai do you stay?

rikhav... Yes High Speed Fan is working perfectly fine.... It is starting immediately after car starts heating.... Mechanic also told me Fan is working perfectly.

Staying in Goregaon, Mumbai

Waterpump.
Common problem, plastic blades brake of easily.
Change for a waterpump with metal blades.

Peter has hit the nail with pointing to the water pump and specially because its a 14 year old car

Also yea the plastic blades of the fan go bad

Tell your garage to check working of water pump. If he is confident about changing the water pump, go with him. If not i will guide you to a good garage in kandivali

Please dont let the engine heatup to the max. You are inviting more trouble for yourself and possibly more expensive one

OK Sure, Will get water pump checked... and let you know.

Meanwhile, can you give me contact of the garage in Kandivali.

What could be the reason...when I accelerate little more (probably at higher RMP) needle on heat meter comes down within 10 - 15 secs. It looks like something is getting injected with pressure and making engine cooler.

Let me know your views on this..

I am not sure , maybe Peter can clarify on this but I think pump is connected with timing belt so when you rev more, the more the pump works.

So maybe that's why engine temp goes down as you rev hard as coolant is pumped at a decent level which a normal working pump would achieve at lower engine speeds

Will send you contact details of kandivali garage by tomorrow for sure

Since your engine has a single overhead cam it's not a difficult job opening the timing assembly which will be needed to open to get access to water pump, but going to the kandivali garage you can get a general inspection done of the car

The supervisor and other people working are ex a uproot auto guys. Also owner is ex fiat employee

The name of garage is R S MOTORS and is at Hindustan Nama, charcop

The name of supervisor is mr. Rajendra and his number is 8108109002

You can call him and he will guide you how to reach them. Their diagnosis is excellent but make sure you insist to see the part before they change and insist on fiat original parts or good OEM parts
