Guys the availability of palio mods is pretty scarce and I was thinking of dumping the velo engine in ma palio so is it wise and if so what would I need extra besides the engine?? Thanx

Hell of a lot of work, I'd have thought.

Maybe -- engine, gearbox, one off linkeages, one off mounts, one off driveshafts. Probably can be done -- someone put a Vauxhall Red Top engine and box into a Sei -- but doubt if it would be worth it.

Here we don't get the Palio. 1.4 16v SuperFIRE (Stilo, Idea) engine would probably be a fairly straightforward fit.

No, the Palio came in two versions, a 1,2 8V with 75 hp and a 1,6-16V with 100 hp. ( sometimes claimed at 103 hp..)
If he wants more power from another engine, the 1,6 would be the logical choice, and a not so difficult swap.
And if the 1,2 is sold where he lives, the 1,6 should be available as well.

It's a very common 1,6-16V engine, same as used f.i in the Marea, Brava/o etc.
But because the Palio is a lightweight compare to those models, it performs really well with this powerfull engine, a kind of pocketracer so to speak....!

Hi! anyone knows if the palio model share the front end with any other model like punto, marea,brava,bravo.....

i would like to swap my 1,2 Engine to a 1,6 and to make it easy just buy a complete car and use the Engine, gearbox and Electric stuff

It would be really easy to find any of this models in Sweden but very hard to find a palio 1,6....

hope anyone out there knows :)

cheers

Hi Peter p-u

I meant complete Engine, gearbox, driveshafts, crossmember and so on..

Just to get the complete package and drop it in

Actually it is a Strada ( pick up Palio) and it would really be nice with more Power and specially a much lower rpms in normal highway speed.... the original gearbox should need many more gears to be useful in speeds over 90 km/ hr... its a pain to drive outside the city..

Take care!
