Dear friends. My palio young 2002 seems to overheat. The following parts had been replaced: Temperature sensor, fan temperature switch, thermostat. The radiator was check and it is clean. The problem is when the car is driven at low speed or it is stopped, the temperature gauge is above the middle position just before the 3/4 mark. I do not see any boiling water in te reservoir.

I did the following test: I started the engine. After 1/4 temparature gauge mark, the hose coming from the engine started to feel hot. I assumed the thersmostat opened at this time. When the needle´s temperature gauge was close to the center, the fan started to operate at low speed. The fan stoped after a litle while; and then, it continuosly started and stopped, like if the system was regulating the temperature, but the needle instead of staying at the middle possition, it went up to middle between the center and the 3/4 mark. (Far above the normal working temperature. By the way, what is it for this car?) this situation was mantained for over one hour period of time. Only the low speed of the fan worked during the test.

With the air conditioner on the second speed of the fan goes on.

It seems to me like the temperature indication does not correspond with the temperature detected by the fan temperature switch.

What can I do to further check the system.

Just for you information the car travel 1.400 km with not air conditioner on and the temperature was normal.

Running a 120 130 km/h with air conditioner on and off the temperature indication is a little above the center position. After I started to go at low speed 60 km/h the temperature indication went up to less the 3/4 mark.

Best regards and appreciating your support

I don't know if this is gonna be of any use after such a long time but this used to happen in my car when the A/C relay which is in the relay box right in front of the battery failed. The fan wouldn't kick in at high speed which would overheat the car exactly like you are describing.
