Never checked for underbody rust but I am dead sure there will be as there are some rusts in the body as well

Thanks for the tip

I have hit a minor problem after around 600 kms of belt change and brake overhaul

There is squeaking noise when braking

Is this normal or due to harden then normal brake pads? The OE brake pads for Palio / Petra are said to be harder then normal. Dont want to ruin the new discs

If that is the case I will install new Bosch brake pads which are quiet better then what sells in india as Fiat OE

Weekend is ruined :(

Have other major things to worry about

Engine cooling fan does not go to its second speed and due to that engine gets hotter then normal. Also AC compressor wont switch on :(

Hi Peter

Even without using AC should not the second speed fan come into action after certain temperature?

AC compressor has stopped working suddenly. Usually when there is a gas leak the compressor will stop working after cooling gets lesser and lesser

Every A/C system has a low pressure switch to prevent it running with no oil ( which is in the refrigerant).
So when the level of R134A reaches a certain ( low) point, the compressor just won't engage anymore.
So first, have the charge checked at a car A/C specialist.

Hi peter
You were right, There was no gas in the AC system and that was the reason AC did not turn on
Now the bigger issue to find the leak. Garage guy claims that 99 percent its from the cooling coil but that i had replaced a year back and it cannot go bad so soon unless and until i was ripped off and a used coil was used as replacment

Electrical issue also got solved. The same AC specialist which has replaced my cooling coil for some reason had replaced a relay in fuse box with a lower capacity one and that was causing a malfunction.

In india, its a common practice by garages to rip off customers and to act smart and to try something which they are not familiar with

And due to all this car gets a bad name and ofcourse there is wastage of time and money

Gas leak in the AC system was detected due to compressor O ring failure

The garage has given the compressor for overhaul. I know it would have been a better idea to buy a new compressor but its real hard to get the same compressor which is used in Palio / Siena and if i use a different make there is hassle of modifying the foundation for the compressor

I hope AC issues are solved once and for all and i can save some money for a complete suspension overhaul and new tyres which are badly needed

Interesting.
Let us know how the overhaul works out.
The compressor o-ring on our 1999 Palio is leaking as well, I'm going to use a leak sealer next week.
A new compressor is way to expensive for this 14 year old car.
Btw, it's a rather common Japanese Denso compressor, used on many other cars as well.

Hi Peter
I dont think DENSO compressors are used here in india as OE by other car makers and that is the reason its hard to find in the market

Will surely let you know how it turns out but will have to wait till atleast car has done 1500 km with full ac useage to give a final verdict

Suzuki makes ( small) cars in India, right?
I bet they use the same Denso compressor...!!

Suzuki is the small car king and overall biggest automobile company in india :)

Too late to do some research on it right now. Will get back to you after finding some info tomorrow

Okay
Car is back

All O rings, and oil seal changed of the AC compressor

Done 30 kms till now without any problems :)

Now will update 1000 kms later

Is it advisable to use the new age coolant (which is sort of blue in color) and does not to be changed for approx 5 years?

You mean long life engine coolant?
It's red/ pink in color.
Old fashioned coolant is green/ blue.
And yes, you can change from green/blue to red/ pink long life coolant in the Palio without problems.

Btw, do you have part numbers for those o-rings and seal that are used to repair the a/c compressor?

Hi Peter
I plan to keep the old coolant for about 2 weeks, just to make sure there is no leakage happening. Once its clear there is no leakage will switch to long life coolant

Unfortunately, I dont have any part numbers. Have the old O rings and the oil seal with me. Will a picture of it will help you in some way?
