Hello!.

I'm from Spain, My 128 it's fitted with a 1300 Regata engine with the 128 4speed gearbox. Now I have a trouble with it. I'm thinking about to put a 5 speed gearbox from a Regata or Uno.

Do you think , that it's easy to do?. Must be to do some extra work or other modifications?

Thank you!

I have had a 5 speed box fitted in my previous 128. I used a strada 75 5 speed box, and was able to use the standard 128 driveshafts with it. It also cleared the inner wing ok, although I have heard rumours in the past that some people have had to modify the inner wing chassis leg to get extra clearance. Any strada sohc box should fit easily, however, I am not a mechanic and did not fit it personally. The only negative thing I do remember was that when using the 128 gear linkage, (which is only designed for 4 speed of course), you have to push the gear stick down before moving across and forward to get 5th , but I soon got used to that! (Similar movement used for selecting reverse on 128) If you are struggling, I will make contact with the guy who did, and will let you know any important do's and don'ts Regards, Chris ps, very nice coupe by the way!!
