Hi

A local Italian car fan has recently acquired a 131.. been in the UK a few years.. but not UK registered

Covid has made contacting people awkward

Were they ever built:assembled in South Africa ?

Anybody know the actual procedure for proving 'type approval' so issue of an age related plate.. rather than the SVA route

Fiat Motor Club..?

131 register..??

DVLA have not been too informative..
And Slough were no better :eek:

131s were built in South Africa for some years after they were discontinued in Europe. There may be local differences, so cars or spares imported from there may have differences. Don't know when they stopped making them there, but I think not that long ago.
Fiat motor Club does offer a service to prove age of vehicle.
I still have a Haynes for the 131, if it needs a more useful home we can arrange a handover some time when you are around this area.

Edit: Found the latest copy of the Fiat Club magazine, below is the info about dating letters.

Yes the FMC can help with this. Please note though, that the Club valuer isn’t currently at this address due to COVID - he’s staying with his daughter. If someone needs help, I can find the temporary current address for you. (y)
